It would require hiring and training of professional security people for each school. One could turn to security contractors, but the price would be high and most are probably already on duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Where are they going to get the funds when everybody wants a tax break? Obviously it's impractical for our teachers to raise, educate and protect our kids against armed terrorists. If some agree there would have to be substantial salary jump because they would be doing two jobs at once. Frankly the only option open to politicians is to reduce easy access to firearms and that is where most will eventually go.

You don't have to hire or train anyone. There are plenty of private security contractors around. Set a working protocol, tender for bids, and sign a contract.

He responded to the building, and in violation of all the training that has been done for LE first responders since Columbine, refused to enter for 4 minutes, until the gunshots stopped. The attached article has a long list of failures from the local authorities.

Tucker Carlson interviewed a mouthy activist politician in Florida on this evening's program (Feb. 22, 2018) who introduced a Florida bill to register all "assault weapons." That's the first step; it was in California, and also with some semiauto longarms in New York City, and those weapons wound up being prohibited.
The end result intended is POPULATION DISARMAMENT. Make no mistake about it --- they're chipping away at our rights chip by chip by chip by chip.

Not letting any guard down, Clinton is done, Obama had his chance, and many of us won't stand for it. If you knew me the last thing you say is "I let my guard down". The UN and Rebecca Peters tried this under both Clinton and Obama and failed. Doubt it will happen under current POTUS.
