This is what we're up against

There are just too many, starting with the premise, the logic, the ethics, the motive, etc...
but cartridge cases don't fly down the barrel with the bullet.

This is exactly what I ment in another post.

!. Tell a lie.
2. Make it a big lie.
3. Keep telling it until it becomes the truth in peoples minds.

That's page one in the gun grabber's handbook.

They do not deal in facts, nor logic, just emotion stirred by lies. This is America, we know that entire cartridges don't come out of the barrel of a rifle.

Beyond the obvious stupidity of the entire cartridge coming out of the barrel, it's a bit odd that they chose a hunting rifle rather than a handgun or AR pattern rifle.

Well, just remember, they don't want to take just your AR 15s, or your handguns, they want them all.

And they are not stupid, perhaps not well versed about guns, but not stupid. Sneaky, insidious, and well funded, but not stupid.

Astronauts and cosmonauts are faster than speeding bullets.

How does relative speed show that the unstated policy plan(s) of "Everytown for Gun Safety" will do anything meaningful about gun violence?

Locally we have had home invasion murders by intruders using hammer, knives, and baseball bat. I guess because the means was not a gun, that would of no interest to the "gun safety" crusaders. Too bad, because criminal violence--including the recent school stabbing rampage--tends to have similar things in common regardless of the weapon used.

I think the "Everytown" faction is simply obsessed with guns. We have had useless and harmful moral panicks and crusades in the past: demon rum, reefer madness, red scares, seduction of the innocents by comic books, mail order guns, Satanic Ritual Abuse in YOUR daycare center, all with the message "Be afraid, be very afraid, but Big Brother will save you, just surrender and trust." I see this as more of the same. Odd that there is a sudden media interest in stories about the Salem Witch scare at the same time.

I think we're missing the point. The ad is not meant to be technically accurate. It's not directed at people who know anything about guns. It's directed at people who know nothing about guns, except that they're afraid of them. The ad simply reinforces their fear.

(Even at that level, it's not very effective, IMO.)

The ad is frustrating because it insinuates that if you are against MAIG than you are against trying to stop "gun violence". I'm pretty sure that everyone on both sides of the argument is for stopping crimes committed with firearms, we just differ on the most effective way to do it.

When you paint legal gun owners as contributors to the shootings in our communities it just further polarizes them from working with you to find an equitable solution.

And yes, the ad is laughable in so many ways....but most people will never notice or care.

You know whenever I see nonsensical claptrap like that I have to believe that somewhere in the deepest recesses of Satan's Underworld, Dr.Joseph Goebbels is smiling.

Tell the biggest lie you can and do it repeatedly and people will eventually believe it.

Remember, they are targeting women with this campaign. It's a grass roots approach to sign up one woman at a time and get their vote. Accuracy doesn't matter, it's all about emotional response.

Are you saying that accuracy in the ad doesn't matter because they're targeting women?

The push this year is like to be for "gun safety" and "enhanced" background checks (which don't get around medical privacy, so I'm assuming this equates to outlawing any sales that don't create paperwork.)

Judging by the proportions of the projectile to the case of that cartridge it appears to be a generic representation of a 20mm cannon round.
