I have several questions. I'm going to be pilfering my old mans 6.5(he knows). I would like to know a couple things from you guys that are already roling your own loads.

1) what are your pet loads

2) what twist is that thing

3) what weights seem the most accurate

4) favorite powder

I'll probably be using tsx bullets for hunting, because thats about all I ever hunt with. but what is a good target bullet. I am partial to the sierra varminter in .243 win. anyway any of your vast knowledge you can share with me would rock!

Also would it be a better bargain for me to just shoot up some milsurp and then reload it, or just buy brass. also any good deals on milsurp 6.5 swede?

Aim Surplus has it for $13-14/box. Priv Partisan ammo, I use their brass in 7.5 Swiss and 8mm Mauser and it's good stuff for reloading.

twist is 1/7.8" for the old M96
I`d get a box of 129gr Hornady SPs and a jug of R22 and use them for everything from plinking cans to dropping deer and elk. It just don`t get any better IMO.

Hmmm. The Sierra reloading manual (5th edition, 5th printing) says they used a M96 for testing their loads and the twist was 1/8.5". But Hornady (6th edition) says they also used a M96 and the twist was 1/7.5". Could there be a difference in twist rates between CGs and Huskys?

I tested Swedish ball in two Swedish service rifles and in my M700.

I believe my 4350 load is service rifle equivalent. And it shoots well.

In my 1907 Swede carbine I had (recently sold) - it really liked Sierra 120 and 140 SP bullets (flat base) in Norma cases using IMR 3031. Others powders that worked well were 4064 and 760
