I have a question for those of you that own gp100s out there. Which factory configuration do you like best?

plase post any details you like on what you like about the paarticular configuration as apposed to others available.

I also have the 6" full lug. Bought that first and really liked shooting it - I've generally liked a little extra weight out front. Then after reading a lot of the 4" v. 6" barrel threads, I got the 4" full lug and REALLY, REALLY liked the feel of that one - for me it just feels perfect!

That being said, the 6" barrel and a tree or branch to brace yourself with, lets me confidently reach out a little further with it when I'm in the woods.

I have much carry and trigger time with the 4" adjustable-sight full lug version, and it is my current favorite. I have some trigger and carry time with a 4" half-lug with fixed sights, but I like the adjustable sights for an all-around carry gun.

I also own a 3" full-lug and 6" half-lug, both with adjustable sights, but no carry time with them, so it is difficult to say if I might come to prefer one of them, eventually.

In theory, I may well prefer the 5" version, but I have never handled one, much less shot or carried one. There is no substitute for experience, actually carrying and shooting.

My 4" GP100, full lug, 357 Mag is my favorite "all round" revolver.

Having said that....

My .44 Mag Redhawk is my favorite "deer catcher" (but is way too big for CCW).

My 6" full lug GP100 is my favorite target gun (and gets shot the most).

...and my 3 1/16" SP101 is my daily carry gun.

If I could only have one revolver, it would be the 4" GP100 because it does just about everything.

But other guns do other things a bit better.;)

I have an SP101, not the GP100, but if I did get a Gp100, there are two models that would interest me.
The 6" full lug, adjustable sights and the 3" fixed sight.

The 4" 357 is jack of all trades handgun 2nd place would probably be the 5"

I find myself very torn between the adj sight models and the fixed sight, particularly the 4" and 3". from what I gather that is a common problem with most

I had the 5" and absolutely loved it. Kick my self daily for having traded it off. I now have the 4" full lug and it's a great gun, but that 5" was an awesome shooter, very well balanced. Plan on ordering a custom holster for it if you go 5".

I have had a 4" full lug, adjustable sight stainless gun for a couple of years. It is a great all-around gun. I just bought a used 6" blued half lug gun. I won't know how well it works until I can pick it up in a week or so.

I have a 4 inch full lug DA/SA adjustable sights. Havent shot it yet but it balances well in the hand. I really like the half lug look and I think it might balance a little better if I could try that configuration.

I have the 4" adj. sighted one and dearly would love the 3" adj. sighted one and a fixed sight 3" half lug one. Something about 3" bbls. Too bad one can't have the half lug lighter barrel on the 4" adj. sighted gun.

I've seen one 3" with adj sights and it was gorgeous, they must be rare however, as much as I try searching them on the web I can't seem to find a picture of one.

I would like to see a 4-inch, adjustable sight, half-lug that is the same size and weight as a Security-Six, with small rounded grips, like the Speed-Six. I'd also like to see the 6-inch with a half-lug that would make it easier to lug, if you get my drift.

Isn't the 6-shot snubbie a better way to go than an SP-101?

Oh, and I'd just loooooooove to see the new LCR released in a ported 4-shot .44 magnum. :banghead:

it indeed is, personaly if compact was the way I was going for a revolver I would probably accept nothinbg less then a ruger speed six 3".

thanks for the pictures of the 3" ruger btw guys.

3" 1/2 lug DAO for a carry gun.

Bobbing the hammer and working the grip frame to nearly a bird's head style makes the GP a fast acting little sucker with magnum power levels. Quite the pocket cannon.
