Hello,
Any recommendations for good quality, affordable throwing axes and throwing knives?

I like the Cold Steel for throwing knives. Read some on what may work best for you. I prefer heavy over light.
I would suggest to get some of the Cold Steel throwing stars, bit cheezy, but they will stick when people get frustrated with the other things.

. I tried a cross cut circular saw blade once for yucks that buried itself so deep in an oak I had a hard time removing it. Easy to be accurate with too.

And remember, "throw a kukri" is just a joke! Byron used to use old bayonets as throwing knives. They're probably worth as much as $100 each, now, if you can find them!

Got a 6pc S&W 8" throwing knife set for my wife and 6 10" S&W throwing knifes for myself. We had a 30" poplar tree fall down in the woods and cut 3 4'' slices and hung them up as targets. With a bit of practice each day we were able to throw within a 8" circle consistently from about 12'. I threw 6 knifes around the target and my wife weaved her arms around the knives and I took a picture and sent it to my son saying we're not quite ready to join the circus, but the band aid people are getting rich. He was not amused.

I am pretty impressed with cold steel at their price point. I've thrown the gi tanto and has good luck. Looking at the true flight

Those tools are fun. It takes some time and effort to become proficient. In the Corps we who cattied Ka-Bar fixed blades would compete in games to see who could throw the knife and actually get it stick in a target. I was a total failure. I UDPS to say I had a better chance of hitting the target with the butt of the handle, which if it hit in the face might even stop someone.

My bp club has competitions with 'hawk and knife.
My favorite 'hawk is a customized cold steel.

CRKT makes a nice hawk called a woods Chogan. Some people have given it bad reviews, but I bought one to give as a gift. I liked it.
Coincidentally.....I just recieved my order from www.hatchetsandaxes.com
I'm not impressed. They are junk from India. Roughly hammered around a mandrel. The handles run off at odd angles. Cheap steel. I didnt pay much, aaaaaand didn't get much!

As a teen in the 80s and ninjas being the coolest thing, we used to make our own throwing stars out of air duct metal. The tips might bend but you could just straighten out with a rock or pliers. It was fun for us but not for the guy that owned the wood garage door where some of us waited for ride home.

I was thinking of getting cheaper throwing knives, like the Gil Hibbens or Reaper. As for an axe, I have the C.S. Bad Axe and a CRK&T Berzerker axe I can use, though I want a bit longer of a handle.

Cold steel makes a replica of a Russian infantry spade. Perfect balance for throwing. 20yd targets w deadly force are not too difficult w it.

What's your experience with it?
I bought several of them. The handle isnt quite as tough as it should be, white ash, i believe. Hickory would have been better. I practice @ the handgun range. Not sure the alloy of the blade, but it sure is tough. Ive got half a mind to turn a few handles on a wood lathe.

For a while they sold hickory replacement handles, but all bets are off now. If you can make heart hickory straight grain handles I bet you could sell them to us old timers with the shovels. ;)

I have 3 great kunai that I used to be good with. Ordered my kids two sets from the same company a few years back and they were cheap Chinese junk. Lol. I could bend them by hand and they weighed 1/3 what the others did.

They should have made them like that to begin with. Mabey ill get motivated & get to it. Not sure where i can even get a suitable piece of hickory. I have several broken ones.

That could be a challenge since they are wider than typical tool handles that can be purchased.

You may need to get a baseball bat and turn it into two handles.
