Thumb over or around

I guess the consensus is over the top for rifle straight stock grip, and around for "pistol" grip stocks.

Now shotguns tend to have slimmer grips, and I've never seen anything but the thumb over grip. Anyone else?

FWIW... I tend to shoot my AR's more accurately from the bench only, with my thumb NOT wrapped around the hand grip.

Took a little getting used to, but...

If I'm shooting offhand and such, it's usually wrapped around, but if I'm prone, or shooing off bags and such... I run my thumb alongside. A number of reasons for it... to reduce the amount of interference my grip would bring to the rifle, because when I'm shooting peeps I'm waaaay up on that rifle (I am an AR 'nose to the charging handle' shooter...) and also because I have big hands with long fingers. To keep from booger hooking the trigger, very often I slide my hand way back on the stock so I just use the tip of my trigger finger.
