So here lately seems like the buzz word and topic these past couple of days is Straw man purchase, even in threads that have nothing to do with straw purchases. Where did this come from?

last winter was Negligent discharge as a daily hot topic(i think because the media used it a couple of times)

last fall alcohol and guns/ownership/ccw(again powered by the media and some shooting in Ca. I think)

so whats going to be on the hot seat this fall?

I thought the ever present "SHTF" acronym was always the hot topic. Everything from a tropical storm watch to rising prices of .223 seems to be "SHTF" to many folks around here.

Yeah but shtf is almost a daily thing and therefore not exactly a "tide" that rolls in and fades out.......

I don't know, my big issue with THR is some members having a "higher and mightier than thou" type attitude...

I love how everyone always knows best.... :banghead:

I predict the following:

1. Pumas
2. Bears
3. "small handgun"
4. "all you need"
5. "in my pocket"
6. confusing possessive for plural and other poor grammar
7. Texas (see also #6)
8. one gun doing it all
9. jack booted thugs
10. Heller & the NFA and "where is my mail order machine gun?"

Eric,

You are a funny guy! Why do you seem to pay so much attention to and comment on THR's general goings on? I was thinking of the other thread you started. Are you shooting for moderator? ;) Or are you a psychologist?! :D

Just so you know, I'm just curious. I'm not being critical of you and I'm trying to ask in a good natured way. ;) Excellent choice of words for the title, btw.

On to your thread topic:
Well since we have a couple more hurricanes yet to landfall, I suspect we will be getting a rash of threads based on that. We still don't know how Hanna and Ike are going to turn out. I don't know if they will exactly dominate the course of discussion all the way into November, but we certainly will get a lot more threads on them. I suspect.

ROFLOL! thats funny I will send you a pm and answer the questions.

Storms, yeah thats good I am at work now watching hanna, I expect some wind and Rain is heavy right now........but yeah storms is good for a few more weeks.

If Obama wins the winter will be filled with an onslaught of chicken little threads. Wont happen though, not with Sarah on board. That is the end of my political commentary...

I predict the following:

General Discussions - Every day the latest shooting will be reported as if we need to know of every death in the world.

Rifle Forum - when is 223 going to be 2cents a round again? Should I buy an AK for HD, I heard it wasn't accurate?

Shotgun Forum - Saigas are tacticool and can't be used on anything accurately.

S&T - 9 million threads involving "what if" without any pertinent information

Handgun Forum - Is my <insert caliber> good enough for HD?

Hunting Forum - "you can shoot deer with .223" "you could, but why are you trying to be a mall ninja hunting with an AR?"

And last of all, Legal Forum - At least 100 posts will be closed in October for merely mentioning any politicians name.

Note: While the previous predictions may very well be true, they were not meant to be funny.

You forgot the revolver forum.
  1. S&W is guided by Satan so long as they put internal locks in their guns.
  2. [insert new S&W model] smooches goats. I read in on the internet.
  3. "What revolver for DC residents?"
  4. "500S&W or .454 for zombies?"

There will probably also be a ton of "what rifles to buy before Nov.?" threads, and some "if you could only have one gun for CCW, elephant hunting, squirell hunting, home defense, olympic shooting,(all events, including free pistol.) IDPA, 300-meter sillhoute and surviving the end of the world, what would it be?" threads.

how did i miss that.

what the heck is a straw purchase. dont they usually give you a straw when you buy a drink. Next your telling me i will have to purchase a lid and the cup when i buy a soda.

I predict that a bear wearing Pumas will use it's one small gun to do them all (The jack booted thugs) in there home town in Texas and claim self defence. As far as machine guns their all you need in your pocket and thats' alot!

Hopefully, the next hot topic is "Pro-Gun Minorities." I've been trying to make it happen.

I think being Pro-gun makes you a minority.... dependent upon your state of residency of course. :)

1. Pumas
2. Bears
3. "small handgun"
4. "all you need"
5. "in my pocket"

8. one gun doing it all

10. Heller & the NFA and "where is my mail order machine gun?"

That's a pretty tall order, so I'll try to be brief.....

In Texas, we abeen huntin Pumas with small handguns ferever, the same one typically we been using HD. Since the big win in the Heller case, the fully auto redundant cyclic twin drum magazine machine guns will soon be available in the same small pocket size models as the Taurus PT25, so everyone watch the mail closely. Where IS my mail order machine gun small pistol that fits in my pocket? It will be here soon. We don't have bears or gorillas here unless the Dallas Zoo let's them get loose again, so the small fulley automatic handgun is really all you need. And since it is always carried in my pocket, it will be readily available. Because of it's small size and huge knockdown power, it is really the only one you need, it will indeed be that one gun that's doing it all. Since it is always carried in my pocket, when I get attacked by those Jack Booted Thugs in the West end of downtown Cowtown (Fort Worth for you non-Texas gringos) or attacked by a polar bear, lion or gorilla escaped from the Dallas Zoo, I will be ready. And it is all OK, cause this is Texas and if it ain't the biggest, best, meanest, purttiest, spiciest or ugliest we just don't talk about it.:neener:

This is the 5th or 6th thread I've seen decrying what appears to be normal THR writing. A trend like that?

HEY! thats pretty observent I missed that myself!

I see many, will Sarah Palin fill her tag threads.
Moose,elk and Biden/Obama.
Prediction:Sarah wipes the boards, leaves 4 and 2 legged opponents splattered across the landscape.
See post #9, I was right!

Im telling you right now. If Mc Donalds starts to charge for straws i aint paying. This man isnt going for that straw purchase.
