I've got an AR-10 that I'm not happy with the accuracy. It won't hold smaller than 5 inch groups out to 200 yds with different brands and bullet weights of 'match grade' ammo. So I'm gonna sell it.

I want to replace it with a more accurate rifle. I looked at a few precision rifle builders sites, GA Precision and American Precision Arms, but I can't afford their products. I came across the Tikka T3 Tactical. It's in my price range. I would most likely put it into a different stock. The OEM stock doesn't look like one I would like, but ya never know.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with the rifle and would give me your opinion on the thing. I'd like to get something capable of shooting 1/2 MOA. That doesn't mean I can consistantly shoot 1/2 MOA but I'd like the rifle to be able to accomplish it if I do my job. Thanks in advance for any info offered.

The T3 Tac is a .308 stick. I've been reading up on the 6.5x55 round and am liking what I've read so far. I intend to buy a single stage press and reload for whatever rifle I eventually get.

I have been eyeing the 6.5x55's on GunBroker. I am a fan of the 6.5's. Currently have 3. A Tikka, CZ and a Howa. The Tikka is the most accurate of the 3.

The 6.5 is a dream to shoot. My wife and kids even love to shoot it. The 6.5, to me, really shines if you plan on reloading. Factory ammo is downloading to much to get the true performance out of the 6.5's.

I just got a T3 Hunter in. 243 that shoots very nice. Very happy with Tikka. I would assume the tactical would perform even better.

I have a Tikka Tactical in .223. It will easily go below .5 MOA with 77 OTM Sierras. Doesn't like standard 55 grain bullets.

For a little more than the Tikka and a new stock, you could get the Kimber 8400 Advanced Tactical. I have no first hand experience with it, but I have done plenty of reading up on it, and I'm trying to get my hands on one. You could also go cheaper and get an FN TSR XP rifle.
The Tikka is great from what I've heard. I've heard multiple accounts of people thinking they totally missed their target, and finding out they key-holed several rounds.
Another thing you could do is to go to: http://www.snipercentral.com/scriflepackagedetails.phtml?packageid=2
Just fill in everything you want, and you're good to go. The base price includes the rifle with a Bell & Carlson stock, Harris bipod, Bushnell Elite 10x40mm and a Plano case.

Any one of these would serve you extremely well, and you wouldn't go wrong by choosing any of them. Have fun with your rifle!

DBSHABO, I have a Tikka T3 in 30-06 and can cover 5 shot at 200 yds with a 1/2 dollar using remington core-lokt. Please do not take offense for my next question. Are you sure it is the rifle instead of you? Have you ensured that the action mounts and screws for the scope mounts are tight.

If you reload you should consider doing a "ladder test" to see which is the best recipe for your rifle's harmonics. You could also have some one who is a great shooter shoot your rifle and make sure it is the rifle and not you.

I have the Tikka T3 in 223. I found the factory stock to be cheap and I did not care much for the plastic mags either. I got a Manners T-5 stock with DBM bottom metal that takes the Accuracy International mags.
