I first saw this new 22 with all the features of a standard AR this summer and thought it would be a great training tool and save a lot on ammo cost. I talked to my cousin at a gun show and he had bought one and really liked how it shot. He said he has shot over 5000 rounds through his with no problem. Well I had been looking for something new to play with so I talked to a friend who own a local gun shop about them and he called Tippman and got set up as a dealer and they are selling like hot cakes he said. I stopped over last nigh and picked up mine and plan to shoot it later today. They can use either a 10 or 25 round mags to meet all your shooting needs. They come with nice flip up sights but I plan to add an Holosun sight to mine soon as I really like to one I already have on one of my other AR's. Let me know what you like or dislike about them.

A) my gun club owns 6 of them as trainer/loaner guns, they run flawlessly !!
B) the Tippman company & family are very easy to deal with, there company isn't half mile from me.

Who else makes an AR style rifle in .22LR? I'm familiar with the S&W 15-22 and the Tippmann. Any others?

Look at compass lake engineering or white oak armorment (they sell just the upper) Rock River Arms now has some AR in 22lr (and if there anything like there National Match rifles, they will shoot)
I built mine, took the guts out of a cheap chiappa m4 upper and put them in an aluminum sport upper with a free float hand gaurd 20210502_185421.jpg

I like everything about my Colt/Walther built rifle except for the cleaning part. To clean properly, you must remove the flash hider and remove the BCG/housing and barrel liner to flush out with brake/carb cleaner before a re-oil and re-assemble. The rifle is accurate enough to hit clay birds @ 100 yrds w/ the dot aimed about an inch above it.

The aluminum quad rail up front is kind of overkill unless you like a bunch of junk hanging on your plinker. It will shoot both HV and SV if you manually adjust the bolt spring tension w/ supplied allen wrench. Magazine cap is 10,20 or 30 rnds. I believe the cost was $429, 10-12 years ago when I bought it. I also have the HK/Walther built MP5 A2/3 that functions the same way. Both are very fun to shoot and the younger ones just love them.

Doing this with a Chiappa upper makes a world of difference in both accuracy and reliability. I did the same thing and swapped the polymer receiver out for an aluminum one and used a Nordic free float handguard. The upper has been more reliable and a lot more accurate after doing this. And no I would never buy another Chiappa upper again. I got one heck of a deal years ago from a LGS since the upper had sat on their shelves for so long, they practically gave it away.
