Infact it was much more comftrable without the wait of a gun in a weird sense I felt more free without it. I know alot of people will probably think its bad to not carry but it was a nice break I didnt worry about it bumping into things, and didnt have to worry about public flashings. I thought I would feel naked without it, I usually do but today I didnt carry all day and it was nice. I could move in any matter I wanted it was great I also didnt have to do the hole dress around the gun ordeal.
What the heck do you carry? A shotgun in your shorts!

If you are constantly worrying about bumping into things, printing, altering you dress, etc... You need a different firearm.

I do not have to alter my clothing at all, printing is a non-issue, and I do not think that I have ever even thought about "bumping" into something with my CCW.

Absolutley nothing.

Well - gollyyyyyy, geeez and damn! Ahh'm convinced!

Wha - I'm'a just gonna go out and throw them thar darn spare tires right outta the trunks of all my cars - that's just more space for carryin' around mah stuff.

And then I'm'a gonna cancel all'a mah insurance on my cars and house and life - I'll save so much money.

And then I'm'a gonna get rid'a that ugly ole fire extinguisher in mah kitchen. That'll shut the ole ball'n chain up. She hates the way it messes up the look.

And I guess I want'a have'ta use them ole seat belts either - darn things, so tight and uncomfortable - 'specially when it's hot. And then, while I'm at it, Ah think Ah'll disconnect that stupid air bag thingy in mah steerin' wheel. Wouldn't wanna get smacked in the ole noggin' with that thing after all - imagine how uncomfortable that'd be? Come on Ah know y'all can do it. Just IMAGINE!

And checkin' the pressure on my tires - what a pain in the arse it is to do that. No need to anymore - them things aint'a gonna blow out, ever.

After all the world's a completely safe place where nothin' bad ever happens so why waste time, money and comfort preparin' for somethin that aint'a ever gonna happen anyways?

 :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

Well before everyone starts razzin me for my choices I would like to voice why I chose to do this. One its hot out I sweat alot and at the end of the day I have to completley take apart my 1911 cause its covered in sweat I mean it gets everywhere...
"Maam - we regret to inform you that your husband is dead. BeCause he was terminaly lazy and hated being hot and sweaty. We're so, so sorry."

I cant stand it on top of that here in the oh so wonderful U.S. of A. it seems to be a growing trend to prosecute those who rightfully defend them selves.
OK...That's just pure and simple Bovine Scat. A lot of it. A good self defense shoot is a good self defense shoot even in places like CA, NY and MD. You might have a case if you live in Chicago, do you live in Chicago? Didn't think so. Otherwise self defense is self defense. Hell man, even the mayor of DC admited no one would be prosecuted if they used a hand gun in the home in self defense.

This might sound weird but I would almost rather be dead then put in jail for a long period of time.
That doesn't sound wierd at all but your fear is based on the false premise that if you shoot someone in self defense it is likely you will go to prison. KEY WORDS: False Premise.

To those who don't appreciate sarcasm at other's expense - deal with it. Some things said are just so silly as to deserve no other response. Flame away.

You might as well say today I canceled my fire insurance and the house didn't burn down!

I carry for the same reason I buy any insurance -- its a price you pay in the hopes it will be wasted effort.

Well Ronstar, you made it through a whole day unarmed without being attacked...until you posted about it on THR. :D

...like they said, "...when you least expect it...".

I wasn't planning on even commenting on this thread, but, what the heck...why did you post this? I mean your welcome to post whatever you like (as long as the THR rules are followed;)), but what kind of responses were you expecting on a very vocal pro-CCW forum? As has been said, if you have a CCW permit your welcome to carry or not, your choice, but you chose to speak up and give your reasons...too heavy, too hot, too sweaty, too fearfull of prosecution(????); i don't know I guess I'm just curoious why you decided to voice these concerns of yours.

Well - gollyyyyyy, geeez
and damn! Ahh'm convinced!

A absolute classic,Werewolf!
I've always thought Okies(think Will Rogers)have the greatest sardonic sense of humor.I was blessed to serve with many in the U.S.Army.And what rifle shooters they were! All experts.
You have made my day,sir.:D

too heavy, too hot, too sweaty, too fearfull of prosecution(????);

RONSTAR! Tell them it ain't true, and that you lied, please, save yourself!

RONSTAR, did you really think you wouldn't stir up a hornets nest by posting this thread? Or did you honestly think you would change someone's opinion, on THR of all places, about carrying? Everybody has answered you well, already. I guess I'm curious about the intent of the thread...just getting it off your chest?

I car carry in Florida almost every second or third day with a S&W pre-model 10 in .38 special in a snapped holster under a seat.Since I am 3 years too young to get a ccw I car carry its better then nothing but its still stupid not to able to carry concealed at 18 other than a typical folding knife or at home.
Advantage is I can bring a bigger and more powerful gun with me to car carry.Disadvantage is if something bad happens far away from car I am in big trouble.

Either the OP has no clue about personal protection or he has another motive for posting what can only be described as nonsense.

If he feels so much better when not carrying a weapon why not make it his mode of choice. People who take no responsibility for their own safety are "victims-in-waiting" and the reason that criminals are as bold as they are.

Well Ronstar, are you sorry you shared that post yet?

Several good points have been made, along with a lot of useless barbs tossed. You kind of asked for both.

I've long said that, "You can't make an appointment for an emergency." I didn't make it up, I heard it years ago and stole it. But it's still true. It goes along with "Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it."

Porcupines are peaceful creatures, but God saw fit to give them quills.

I ALWAYS carry. A major pain, sometimes, but I find it comforting. Even naked as a jaybird, I still have weapons. But none as effective as the firearm, except the brain that chooses when and how to react. I just have to remember to make sure it's turned on...............

Even though it was less than a month after getting my license, I started to not carry to and from work (35minute drive, country highways). I'd leave it at home because it was a hassle to take it off in the car and even more so to put back on in the car after work.

Then I read that story out of California about the guy beating the young child mercilessly while the on-lookers were too scared or otherwise unable to stop him. The cop finally took the guy down.

I'm not looking to be a hero, but I sure as hell don't want to be one of those people, watching the brutal killing of someone, and not having any way of stopping it. I couldn't live with myself knowing I'd had that ability and chose not to be able to use it because it was uncomfortable or otherwise.

People can choose to carry or not as they please, and I'm thankful that I live in a state that allows ME to make that choice.

Interesting Insight

You're probably not surprised that the membership is not particularly swayed by your remarks. That's pretty much to be expected.

I would imagine your concerns are not too alien to others who also carry.

I have a constraint on carry size that will prove interesting to overcome: I can't carry some of the really small pistols, as I have a damaged knuckle that requires a larger grip. I've found a compact pistol that has the grip size I need, and I've learned that there's another one I can use that's somewhat smaller, but I'm probably never gonna have a carry pistol that "disappears" in my pocket.

Consequently, I've tried a number of holstering arrangements to make my "compact-but-not-really-tiny" pistol easier to carry. So far, the SmartCarry style holster/pouch is looking best, but I'm not done with that yet.

I will very likely have to cope with this size issue for the duration. I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

However.

If you search the sig lines on THR, you'll find this little gem:

"It's the STAKES that matter. Not the odds."

I've had a seat belt save my bacon. The odds were against that happening, but one day the odds no longer meant anything. My kids still have their dad. Wife still has hubby. I didn't have to forfeit the stakes.

The odds are that I won't need to carry. And, if the stakes were low, I'd be fine with that. The stakes are high enough that I really don't regard the odds as a relevant factor.

For me, it's not about convenience. Well, maybe. I'd find it convenient to be alive after an attack, so maybe it is.

I'll be carrying.

Sometimes I think that RONSTAR is just pulling our leg, sitting back, taking it all in, and laughing his a$$ off...... The joke may be on us? Could we have been had?

I guess that I should quit wearing my seatbelt, since nothing happened today.

I guess that I should remove the fire extinguisher from my kitchen, since nothing happened today.

I guess that I should quit paying my insurance premiums, since nothing happened today.

Nobody is forcing you to carry, but I prefer to do so, and wear my seatbelt, and keep a fire extinguisher handy, and pay insurance premiums.

There was only one day in the past 5 years that I haven't carried and I kept having the feeling that I'd lost or misplaced my gun and I'd about break out into a small sweat until I remembered that I'd left it in the truck. :banghead:

"In fact it was much more comfortable without the weight of a gun in a weird sense I felt more free without it."

I hope these make you feel more comfortable and free. :)

Just the opposite from you Ron, I went to the range today with two .44's and two 22.s but I somehow forgot my NAA BUG and felt naked.

Kel-tec P32: The gun for when you can't carry a gun. I love mine, and carry it all the time without being uncomfortable.

I sold mine and got a .44 snub the day I had to face three gangbangers and all I had was the KT P-32. I call it the gun you want on you when you don't want a gun with you!

As I've always said. "It's like the spare tire in your car. You may never need it, but it's there if you do".

Wore my seatbelt too!
Without pics how do we know you're really telling us the straight skinny - huh? ;)

I totally respect your option to choose when you carry and I pray that you don't make a wrong decision on what day you'll need the gun you left behind. Good Luck with your decision making. As for me, if I go a gun goes. But that is just me.
