Is it just me, or has no one opened a thread wishing the USMC, the jarheads, and the leathernecks a hearty and hale happy birthday?

If a thread like that already exists, just point me to it and I'll merge this in.

However, if not ...

Happy Birthday, Marines.

It is proof once again that God loves us: He gave us the Marines.

Semper Fi.

absolutely Happy Birthday USMC

I thought about it but was leery of the rules. since you are a moderator I will chime in,
To all of the Marines I know Happy Birthday, the Continental Marine Corp was commissioned on this day in 1775. Since its inception the Marine Corp has provided a standard of Bravery and Dedication to the United States of America that has been unparalleled. I am proud to know the Marines I do and grateful for their service.

I was too intimidated to join the Marines; I joined the Air Force instead. Though I had fun and don't regret it per se, it's easy to look back and see that I might be a better man today had I joined the Marines. I would have greatly benefited from some stern reprimand, where the Air Force was soft and tolerant of shenanigans.

Happy birthday, Marines.

HURAW!!
And congratulations kids!

The U.S. Army was founded on 14 June 1775.
So we got ya by 5 months!

We coulda did it without your help.
But it wouldn't have been near as easy without your help, for sure! :D

Happy Birthday Marines!

Are you kidding me??

The High Road has always celebrated the Marines' birthday.

A toast! A toast, I say! To the Marines!

The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!

Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States, 1945

It is with shame in myself for never enlisting and much respect to those that did, that I say happy 239th, Marines.

To my brothers, Happy Birthday! 82-86, USMCR 86-88.

Bobson, don't ever feel bad -- I'm Air Force Reserves now, and while the AF is not the Corps, it still is a part of the Uncle Sam machine where we put on a uniform, serve and may be called upon to go in harm's way.

I don't recall feeling under-trained or under-regimented during AOC school in FL. But I DO recall seeing some Marines train on the beach while I was down there and I did feel like the 'squid' that they used to call us.
So happy birthday Marines. You do us all proud.

Semper Fi, and Happy 239th Birthday, Brothers.

Seems like a lifetime ago I was at MCRD San Diego, and later I Corps, RVN.
But then again sometimes it seems like only yesterday.

As rough as it was sometimes, I would do it all over again, just to be part of
"The Corps".

A salute to the brothers. While I never served with the Marines, my unit moved north as I left to support their efforts when their Sea Knights were grounded.

Also it is the 39th year anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. The church bell chimed it rang 29 times once for each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald. My Favorite song by Gordon Lightfoot.

I was 17 in 1966. needed parents signature. The army guaranteed Mom I would be a medic. The gunny guaranteed Mom I would be a Marine. She signed Army. I always regretted not waiting the two month until I was 18.
Later in the Nam we had Marines on our right flank, somehow a bunch of us got mixed in. I thought I was tough as a paratrooper, nope those guys kicked butt and didn't bother to take names. Best compliment I ever got was "ya did good doc"
