I understand now how easy conspiracy theories start. I ordered a BCA complete upper a couple of weeks back (410 shotgun) and it shipped Friday FedEx. It went quickly from NC to Kansas and yesterday I got a notice at 8:56 a.m. that it was "out for delivery". Then, at only 1:52 p.m. another message that it was "returned for inspection". I managed to migrate through FedEx's miserable phone system and got a real person who said it was usually returned like that because the package was damaged but that there was no reason given for the inspection in their records. Subsequently, I got another notice yesterday around 4:00 that it would be delivered today and then this morning that it was again "out for delivery."

Package arrived completely undamaged and seals intact. Makes me wonder if some FedEx delivery person didn't notice the "Bear Creek Arsenal" return address and the heavy long package and wondered if they had an illegal weapon being delivered to a non-FFL and decided to check it out. Didn't help me to see a repost today of the recent news item where a FedEx employee was arrested for stealing guns off his delivery route.

Anybody else have a similar "delayed" experience with FedEx recently?

I've had varied experiences with the local FedEx delivery guys, mostly negative.

The chart-topper was caught on my security camera about five years ago. I found an abandoned package across the street from my house; the contents were intact and though the label had been removed the invoice indicated the addressee and shipment by FedEx. I took the package to a FedEx drop-off, and then later when I checked my video history I discovered that it had been dumped there by a driver at the end of his route. This made the local news, but as far as anyone could determine publicly no one was fired.

It's the FedEx drivers that's caused me problems. Several times. When I order online now and go to the check out if the vendor is shipping FedEx I will empty the cart and find another vendor. Then I email the vendor and tell them that I will not buy anything from them anymore because they use FedEx. I am at the point now that I have a list of of vendors for gun supplies that all ship via UPS. This may seem a little extreme and I couldn't agree more. But after what those rascals have put me through I decided one of us needed some relief.

I had a hazmat UPS package “out for delivery,” to then be sent back to Midway. I contacted midway and told them to ship it to me again. They did and I eventually received my thoroughly tenderized powder and primers. I figured either a system glitch or an anti gunner at UPS jacking with people who order from online ammo suppliers.

I never have a problem with fed ex. I have one particular driver, a fella I recognize due to the circumstances of our recurring interaction, who never leaves any gun powder un attended. He will take the time to come back after I get it home to hand it to me in person always claiming he has to do this "because it's gun powder" other drivers just leave stuff on the porch if I'm not home as I have a signed letter sitting out there instructing them to do so. I wouldn't recommend this for most folks. My only neighbors are my in laws I don't have to worry about porch pirates

In the 15 years we have lived here the only thing that I have lost from my front porch was FedEx taking returning my stuff to the vendor. They are the first and only porch pirates I have ever had to deal with.

Oh man. I've had em leave my rock tumbler at the mail box in the rain only once. An angry phone call took care of that but I reckon I got a little extra weight with em because I'm a mile from their distribution center

It's rural here. About 45 minutes from the nearest FedEx or UPS hub, After that there about (4) houses every five miles on our road. Zoning here says no one can build on less than 20 acres. Driveways are 600 to 800 feet long. UPS just drops it off. FedEx re-delivery attempts? Probably not. The drivers are a long way from home.

UPS hubs hire convicts on parole, according to Gunplumber (Mark Graham) at FALfiles.

He claimed that this policy is connected with guns which have disappeared.
Note- I’ve never worked for any freight company..

We used to get a lot of shipments at work that were important enough that we were required to track them very carefully and had to provide status reports on them. I've seen all kinds of crazy things happen. One coming from Japan made it to within 30 miles of the company location in TX, then was routed all the way back to the CA where it sat for a few days before it came all the way back to TX and was delivered.

Ship enough stuff and they’ll all mess up. I’ve had equipment sit in a shipping hub for months while I was being charged rental. I had a buddy ship a large quantity of highly radioactive material only to have it just dropped on the back porch of the business next door. They are definitely not equipped to handle such things and thankfully he noticed in and went and retrieved it.

I shipped something to my son in Upstate NY on Jan 29th. It left Puerto Rico earlier this week with no ETA on final delivery. On the same day, I sent some pictures to my mother in Houston and she just got them yesterday. Logistics is nutty and impacted by the weather.

My ups driver(the box man as my grandson calls him) is an avid outdoorsman. He always has trailcam pictures, and night coyote hunt pictures.
I consulted him about my night vision scope.
I totally trust him, so does our dog who gets in the truck with him.

The FedEx driver(methmom) has been stuck twice on the same dirt road near my house. She is trying to take a shortcut. The last time, I had just washed my tractor. I told her that was the last time I was pulling her out. She still takes that road all the time. Grrr

I got into it with them a couple years ago. They said, my package had been delivered, I sent them photos and videos of not only every one that had come down our road that week but even the one that passed by on the public road that day.

They refused to help, no one around me received it either. Still fighting my way through it and old fellow showed up one day and said got my package and thought it was his PTO shaft, once he opened it and realized it wasn't a shaft he looked at the box and realized it wasn't his. He did ask if I had gotten a POT shaft...

FedEx forged the signature on my S&W 629 when returning from the factory. Interestingly, S&W shipped it to the wrong house. 255 instead of 225 XYZ Street.

I find it's best NOT to watch the tracking on various items I have coming to the house. It will get here when it gets here.

This is very true. Though generally FEDEX and UPS both do a better job than USPS. What I really don't care for is when a company ships UPS or FEDEX with the USPS for final delivery. Midway is good at doing that so I alway make sure to order at least one box of 22lr ammo or something else that won't go through the USPS.

I'd say Its a routing thing. Stuff gets bounced around, thrown in the wrong bin, returned back to the hub for redistribution, etc. its just how it is in the industry.

I agree and it's not worth my time to worry about where it goes on it's route to me.
