Took a newbie to the range!!

and I wouldn't really need it for self-defense because I like to live in very safe areas...

Might have been true at one time, but with all the home invasions recently...don't count on it. Never hurts to be prepared!

Keep up the good work

I had a similar experience. I took my wife and her pal Kim to the range a few months ago and I definitely see a handgun in Kim's future. She had never really been shooting before, but when she started hitting bullseyes repeatedly at 21 feet targets with my wife's PT111, the grins got big and the "I should buy a gun" conversations started.

And now that I talk of the power of the 10mm, she's been getting that "I'm gonna have to go try that out on the next range trip" look when I mention it.

Another liberal happy about firearms, can't beat that.

Happy plinking,

One conversion at a time. ;)

.22LR on the ground at shooting ranges is as common as dirt.
Yep. The soil at my local range is a blend of dirt, gravel, 7.62x39 steel, and .22 brass. Some day it will be economical to skim the top six inches off the place and feed it through a hopper for the metal weight.

I do have an odd question...is it normal to find unused bullets at a range? I found some on the ground, little 22s.
Yeah, it's somewhat common, especially with small calibers like .22LR. At one range I shoot at, finding 5.56 or 9mm, or .40, and even a Simunitions round isn't out of question. The cops use the range for training and qualifications, and some officers loose track of rounds removed from the chamber in with the brass that they also fail to police.

Welcome to THR. Hey, do you live in towers? You look familiar, and I work Night Staff there. I'm probably the only American male there, besides the tall bald guy and the short one with messy hair.

We'll all have to get together and shoot the variety of pistols we all own. (Me, Dave, and Jen)

Great job, MedGrl!
Jan, welcome to the board. Once you get that first gun of your own, especially if it's a .22, hang on tight, because you'll be solidly hooked.

Glad to hear that you had fun.

I am a hunter and also like animals. Remember If you eat meat someone killed the animal, either you did or you (indirectly) paid someone to.

Just out of curiosity what part of WV are you from MedGrl? My fiance is from the Beckley area and I have been taking her shooting a lot lately. So far she hates shotguns though.

Good on ya, MedGrl! Nice finger control (Rule #3) in the pics, too! Thanks for bringing a new shooter into the fold!

(And can't think of a better topic on which to reach my 1,000th post ...)
