Well i finally got a chance to use my new 870 express. i was invited to a buddies farm to shoot clays. so i figured it would be a good time to take the girlfriend to teach her since it's not as much the hussle and bussle like at the gun club.

For the first time shooting clays i didn't do half bad!

Why no ear protection for you two?

If they were wearing earplugs I doubt you'd be able to see them in the picture.

At the skeet range I go to I never see anyone (except for myself) wear anything but earplugs.

I hate to bitch about it, what with this being her first range trip an all. However if she joins you more often, at some point show her the third picture (the one where she is looking back at the camera) and ask her what to spot she did wrong, and explain to her why it was so very wrong.

Looks like she had fun. Always good to bring new shooters in.

We both had ear protection to 29 dbs they are just the plugs i am not a big fan of the earmuff style.

she doesn't really like guns much, so i didn't want to take her to the range for the first time since there is a lot going on. so i felt my friends farm would be best since there weren't many of us, and other girls were there. i would take her everytime. i asked her come come once and if she didn't like it i wouldn't ask her to go again. but she had a good time and wants to go again, where she doesn't have to hit a moving target. so the next stop will be the plinking range at the gun club i belong too. i also think she will like handguns a lot better than the long guns. but we have to wait till i turn 21 for that.

Very cool! Looks like you all had a great time - heck, how can you not?

Yeah, in that third picture, it looks like she's about to swing the gun around and ...

:D

Don't be afraid to say, "finger off the trigger" everytime you spot it. It'll sink in soon enough.

i guess i am missing something. if i had to guess it looks like in the picture she has her finger on the trigger but she actually doesn't. it just looks that way. we explained that too her when she was shooting the double barrell but that was a little harder since the trigger guard was so big with 2 triggers in there.

You only have to be 21 to buy a gun from a ffl, in my state any way. But as long as the gun is pointed down range its nothing to be anal about.

yes i have access to handguns, but in this situation there was no 21 year old with me when transporting the firearms. if i were to be pulled over and my vehicle searched, i would be in trouble and the person that supplied me with the use of the handgun.

must be 21 to have possession of a handgun. or handgun ammunition (though that doesn't really matter since lots of rifles use handgun ammo:neener: )

Good to take her shooting. Suggest eye protection for her too.

I'd use it on the .22 also because I always get burned from the hot powder on my arm and one time the thing blew up in my face, the back of the case blew out, good thing I'm a right handed shooter or my face would of been bleeding. And what state do you live in?

"i live in ohio"

So Ohio law specifically prohibits anyone under 21 from owning a pistol? :( Damn that sucks. I was grandfathered a 92fs when I was 18 and just reloaded my own ammo... Went to the range alone, etc etc. This was in Arizona though.:D

"It is unlawful to sell a handgun to a person under 21, or any firearm to a person under 18. It is unlawful to furnish any firearm to a person who is under 18 or furnish any handgun to a person under 21, except for lawful hunting, sporting or educational purposes."

ammo for the handgun isn't the problem since so many rifles use ammhandgun rounds anyway. so the 21 for handgunn ammo doesn't really work
