I took quite a few newbies to the range over the last couple months. First trip was in Toledo. Met up with usp_fan and two of my friends who haven't shot before. They both did pretty well. One friend kept leaning back too much, we corrected her, though. Then a guy shooting next to us let my other friend try out his .44 mag DE. Pretty impressive.

Next couple trips were with my school's Trap and Skeet club. We had several German exchange students who have never even held a gun join us, along with some Americans who haven't shot, so I showed them the ropes with cfabe. They got a kick out of my Mosin since they saw it in Enemy at the Gates. I also got to try out a .45 USP, very nice.

Then this weekend, cfabe and I took his brother and a friend of mine that's new to handguns out. She did really well too, I was impressed. She took a liking to my Buck Mark and Arcus but it took all her might to pull the trigger on cfabe's P11 and she couldn't rack the slide on my Mak, which has an upgraded spring.

In other news I got a petition going asking University administration to allow CCW in accordance with state law on campus in light of a 5-fold increase of attacks on people since last year. So far I have 400 signatures in four days, including a couple professors, which isn't bad considering we have less than 5000 students, staff, and faculty.

That's it you're officially the "gun pimp" now! I thought I brought a lot of newbies to the range but I don't know how you dig em all up!! :neener:

Cool beans! Check out the grip and stance on that young lady in the blue coat in the bottom picture...if she's a newbie, she sure does learn quick! I LOVE IT when women are into guns! :)

UK and his friends were great to shoot with. Other guns lent and tried on the Toledo outing were: red-dot sighted trailside, single six, ruger .45 colt bisley and milspec. .45.

The blast from the .44 DE in the next lane was pretty distracting!

Overall, the new shooters shot really well and were very safe. I can only guess UK did a good job on safety briefing before I met up with them.

Great job, UK! Big-Thumbs-Up.gif
Looks like a good time was had by all. I love to teach new shooters, also. Did it in the Army, and do it every chance I get since. That's why I keep to inexpensive weapons in calibers that are inexpensive to shoot; Mosins, the Yugo SKS I just picked up today, Kel-Tec SUB2000, and several .22's. I need more pistols, though. ;)

:D Great Job, sounds like you're doing good things. I think I might like seeing new shooters shooting my guns, more than I enjoy shooting them myself.

Get the women to lean forward more..

Also, I hope you asked them to double up on the hearing, muffs and plugs are the way to go!!

Otherwise, nice job.

I wonder how well those ear muffs worked when worn 90% rotated backwards (2nd pic).
