I recenty aquired a used but LNIB Beretta 92F Compact. I have run a few hundred rounds through it over four range sessions and can't seem to shoot it well. Shooting my Kahr PM9, Dan Wesson 1911, Glock 17, S&W 22a or Springfield XD-9sc all shots are well in the black at yards and farther, but all the shots with the Beretta past 5 yards are low.

I like the feel of the Beretta and I used to shoot a 92FS that had very well, but not the 92f compact.

Should I keep working with it or trade it for something that I shoot better?

If you don't like it, you won't shoot it, so it serves no purpose. If you shoot other systems well, you will have to change something about your process to shoot the Beretta well- is that of interest to you?

That being said, if you practice good sight alignment, sight picture and trigger control you should be able to make hits with anything (as long as the sights are properly regulated). You may not be able to go as fast, but the 3 keys will give you the CM hits.

Last year I ran into a similar situation. I bought a SIG P220 and could not hit the broad side of a barn with it. I let a friend shoot it and he hit whatever he wanted anytime.

I talked to an old friend of mine about it, whose opinion I trust, and he said "It's simple. The gun doesn't fit you."

He said that not every gun fits everybody. Just get rid of it.

It took me a few more months of convincing myself he was right, but he was right. I got rid of the SIG and no longer fret over it.

Now I'm back to being one of the best shots around. I just don't own a SIG P220.

If you don't shoot it well, trade/sell for something else.

The Glocks and the Springfield XD series do not "Fit" me properly; I cannot shoot them well. However, put a 1911 in my hands and Lookout! Barn walls are in extreme danger of being hit.

+1 on the fit. Alot of the Glock/ XD debate boils down to one may fit your hand better, and the same is true with every other gun. You could spend the time and ammo trying to relearn your grip and technique, and once you mastered it, you'd be a terrible shot with all your other pistols. I vote ditch it.

Same problem with me and Beretta 92fs, they just don't fit my hand right but my friends can shoot the same pistol accurately. It just shows that not all guns fit all people (no matter what any fanboy may think).

If you don't enjoy shooting it much, you have no reason to keep it.

Hey, I'm in the same situation with a S&W 686P 4" Bbl. .357 Mag. - I don't shoot it well, unlike my other S&W Revolvers. WIth full power .357
Mag. 20 rds is all I want to fire, as well as there being a
BIG muzzle flash and muzzle rise/recoil - There's
nothing wrong with it, my shooting partner can put a good
pattern in the 10 ring. It's got Hogue compact grips w/finger
grooves and checkering in Rosewood
a handsome L-frame - it just doesn't fit, as well as I don't enjoy
shooting it. I'm thinking of trading for a 1911 to accompany my
S&W 1911 which is my go to handgun.

Heck I've got a J-frame Model 60 3" Bbl. .357 Mag I limit to .38 Special
+P and it's very enjoyable to ME... just nice having that extra
strength in the frame and .357 Mag is an option if that was all I had

For the O.P. - have others shot the gun you have that you're having issues
with and can they fire it satisfactorily -

Like another post stated some guns just don't fit certain
people for whatever reason, kinda like with some
women - things just don't click.

glock compact

My carry gun is a Glock 27 which I can shoot center mass with but a full size Glock just feels awkward in my hand and my shots are all over the place

There's no sentimental value, nor historical or collector value. You gave it an honest try.

Trade fodder.

Is your 92f compact the one with 4" barrel and 13 rnd mag. ??
if it is , I really like mine. It did take a little getting use to the shorter grip but it shoots great.
They are really nice guns, imo, gosh so don't give up to soon, go have a little fun time with it,, just focus on the front sight and let-r-rip a few times to get a differant feel for it?
now, the one i have is picky about bullet weight. 115 grn, low and fair group, 147 grain way high and all over, 124-125 grn is what it really likes.
Good luck shooting or trading,
Have fun, be safe, go shooting.

A few friend fired it and shot it perfectly. I considered different bullet weights, but I shoot 115 in my other 9's and dont want to have to keep seperate ammo for this pistol.

I just got back from trading it for a NIB Armalite AR24.

As far as I'm concerned, this is probably the best reason out there for selling a gun. I just did that recently with a PF9 and put the $ toward another, more expensive, option.

Got rid of my Kel-tec P-11. Couldnt grip it right combined with a terrible heavy long trigger pull, and I couldnt even hit paper at 7 yrds consistently. 500 rounds later, I sold it. Only 1 guy at the range could shoot it well enough.
I would definatly consider another Kel-tec product but I would have to try it first.
