Before I ask this question, I want to confirm that I am neither a troll ( look at my past posts and how long I have been here) nor is this a straw purchase.

I always wondered about this question. If Gun owner A lives in Florida and gun owner B lives in Massachusetts and Gun owner B decides to give A some of his guns, can A go to Massachusetts and fly back with the guns.

There is no money involved in this transfer. Or does there still have to be FFL to FFL? Thanks

FFL to FFL, as far as I know... being that in MA, ALL private transfers need to go through an FFL and all interstate transfers of arms must be sent to an FFL.

Short answer is No. Mister A cannot pickup those firearms unless he too resides in MA. SInce he doesn't, Mister B must ship them to a FFL in FL.

And if both parties are in MA, they still need to go through an FFL, since MA state laws says so.

Does this hold true for other less crazy states? E.g. if owner A lives in MI and owner B lives in OH, can owner A drive to OH and do a FTF Xfer and then drive back up with the gun (and vice versa)?

Transfers betwen private parties ('non-licensee' in BATFE speak) in differing states must use at least an FFL in the buyers state by Federal law.
Some states restrict incoming guns to an FFL to other FFLs.
You can look at the BATFE site under the 'frequently asked queston' for their take on this.

How about if MISTER A travels to MISTER B's state (with proper license that allows him to have the hangun in MISTER B's state) and both men go to a FFL in MISTER B's state. At the FFL MISTER A transfers the handgun to the FFL who then does a background check on MISTER B and given it goes OK then tranfers the handgun to MISTER B.

Is this allowed?

(Sorry that this is oddly written. I tried a few times to word it and this is what I ended up with.)

This is perfectly okay under federal law.

This may not work for NY residents however, something about getting the handgun removed from their permit?
