Travel loaded to the range ???

I have my loaded CCW on me, and all other guns I'm shooting are unloaded. In PA, if I have a rifle, it must be unloaded in the car. This also means no loaded mags in the same compartment of the rifle case as the rifle.
DirksterG30,
That holds true in PA only if you don't have a License to Carry a Firearm. If you have a License then the ammo doesn't have to be in a separate case. Loaded Mags are OK in the case but it's never a good idea to transport a loaded rifle in your car, even though it's not illegal if you have a License.

(I'm guessing you have a License since you said you carry)

for sure - there were several recent incidents of low lifes robbing shotters of their firearms while coming out a gun store and others of being followed home from the range and then home invaded. Obviously the perps were not the smartest as they were lucky they did not run into someone that does not completely unload and the victims were too politically correct by unloading everything they had and not being able to defend themselves at all.

Always! Whenever I am shooting, or transporting a firearm, I carry a loaded handgun.

Going to the range is no different to me than going anywhere else. I carry all the time except in places were CCW is prohibited by law and the range is no exception. If the range doesn't like it, oh well. Concealed is concealed as far as I'm concerned. If they "make" me, they have the right to ask me to leave if that's their policy and I have the right to never use their facility again. It's more their loss than mine IMHO.

Whatever I have on me is loaded, the stuff in the trunk is not. If I'm driving a pickup, I might stick a rifle in the rack, loaded, but more likely not.

Range and Gun Stores

I always feel uncomfortable going into a gun store that has a sign "NO LOADED FIREARMS INSIDE STORE" and some ranges expect you not to come in with loaded guns. If you go into my favorite gun shop here in Indy and have an unloaded gun you will catch holly heck for carrying a useless piece of hardwear. The public range South of Indy now has a Range Master who has to make sure all guns are empty before you go on the range to shoot. Sure I'll show him all the empty guns he wants to see BUT you can bet your behind that I am carrying a loaded weapon somewhere. There have been many a shooter jacked for the guns there and I am not going to be one. I respect range rules but when they are trying to make me a victem....OOPS aint gonna happen ...

I just bought my first gun, Glock 19, been going to a range the last few weeks or so, joined it for an annual membership.

I live near a state border, once I have my CCW, it will make it easier going back and forth, since one state is closed compartment in vehicle (and no on person carry w/out ccw), and the neighboring state is open carry / open in vehicle, so it makes it hard on me going back and forth until CCW...

Anyway, a couple things I like about my range, if you're legal to CCW, they told me it was cool to come in and out CCW, just don't pull out the gun until you're at the range. The other thing is until I CCW, it's on my side of the line, so I can just put the gun into my console all the way to and from the range.

I unload it and slip it into my bag as I enter, and I keep (2) 15rd, and (1) 33rd mags ready w/ SD ammo, regardless of what I'm shooting at the range, so I never run out of the important stuff, and am ready to go hot as soon as I'm out the door, or right before I leave, and pop it in the console and go. I also pay particular attention to my surroundings all the way home after leaving the range.

That is just for my protection, if I had all the stuff the OP mentioned, I would certainly be as careful, unless I could think of a way to be more careful. I read those reports on people being targeted after a range trip, and I took that very seriously, personally. Why take a chance.

Loaded??

I have a Taurus Model 4410 loaded with 410 shotshells in my car at all times.
Legal in Colorado. (The 4410 is a 5 shot revolver not a long gun)

:) :) :) :)

I feel as if I am oblogated not to allow my guns and ammo fall into the wrong hands.
I agree. If I'm transporting guns and ammo, I keep myself armed and don't shoot my sidearm at the range.

Before I had my CCL, I carried a loaded handgun in a belt holster, open carry.

I usually load all the mags that I plan to shoot (hate loading mags at the range), but the guns are cased and unloaded. I carry the mags/ammo and the guns in separate containers.
