TRENTON RALLY UPDATE:
Thursday, May 20, 2004

The Million Moms http://www.millionmommarch.org/ have changed their “Pink RV Tour to Trenton†date from May 26th to July 16th. We are going to do like-wise. Thanks to all of you who, under such short notice, stepped up to the plate and were willing to take the time out of your busy life to face this opposition.

The response to this last minute unexpected call to action was both significant and surprising! Many individuals contacted me; gave me their contact information, and stated that they would be there. I had people contact me that could not guarantee their presence but were going to try and make it. Many others contacted me wishing that they could have taken the time off of work but could not do so under such short notice.

WHERE WE STAND:

A Gun Owners Rally will be held on Friday, July 16th in Trenton (time and exact place to be announced at a later date) in opposition to the Million Moms “Halt the Assault Tour†BUT ALSO in opposition to the laws that have come out of Trenton and the laws that are pending, dealing with firearms issues. The extension of time from May’s original rally date to July will allow us to get a better-organized group together. The more participants we have showing up, the better press coverage New Jersey firearms owners will receive. "If you have not already contacted us, please do so IMMEDIATELY. We need EVERY ONE of you!"

WHO IS WITH US:

Marilyn Lapidus, NJ coordinator for the SAS [email protected] (Second Amendment Sisters) http://www.2asisters.org/, is working hand in hand with the NJCSD, [email protected] (New Jersey Coalition for Self Defense) www.njcsd.org, in order to set up a great rally in Trenton. Lawrence Farrell, Jr. of GONJ [email protected] (Gun Owners of N.J.) http://www.gunownersnj.org/ is also supporting this rally. NOW is the time for ALL gun owners to come together and express to our representatives the dissatisfaction and outrage that N.J. gun owners feel when it comes to the abuse and neglect of firearms issues and firearms ownership. We are tired of being treated like second-class citizens.

A CALL TO OTHERS:

I am now “informally†putting a call out to all gun clubs in New Jersey to put any of our differences aside and to stand next to one another. I will be “formally†sending letters to every gun club / range in New Jersey as I receive their information challenging them to get involved in this rally. This is not an NJCSD rally or a SAS rally or a GONJ rally, this is a CIVIL RIGHTS RALLY!
What I need from each of you to accomplish this is the name of the club / range you may belong to in New Jersey and any snail mail and email information you may have on the leaders of any gun clubs or ranges you may belong to. We have all talked the talk long enough. Now is the time to unite and walk the walk.

The time has come for us to stand as one solid group and say “ENOUGH!â€

Yes I will attend.

Any one else on this board gonna commit I know there are THR members from NJ. If you don't show up nothing will change and after checking out another link on this topic in there was almost no turn out in Richmond,VA.

Even if you are from a different state get your own rally together and let the politicians know where we stand.
Just because the other side is getting ambivalent IS the reason for us to make our voice heard and show that we are the ones who watch how they vote and we don't forget.

Stage a protest in your state I can't say this enough.

I was at the Second Amendment Sisters rally in DC on mothers day, when the Million Morons had their 2k Moms March. Someone posted an email regarding the MMM from the NRA saying basically they find protests to be unproductive.

I don't know if I can commit to Trenton it being a Friday and all.

Why don't you ask them.

As stated, I want all of us who believe in the same thing to come together. We have no more time to bicker or seperate ourselves because one group likes shotguns but not pistols or one group hates pistols but loves military firearms, etc.

As stated and to the best of my knowledge, the NRA does not support ANY type of rally or protest. They state that it is unproductive BUT I see it as they are afraid nobody will show up and they would receive bad press over it.

All I know is that something different needs to be done than the "status quoe" and that the guard needs to be changed.

Certainly true here in NJ Ray. They take our money but somehow we never see any action.

And that goes for both the NRA and the ANJRPC.

For those from out of state, ANJRPC is the official NRA org in NJ . . . . their range - Cherry Ridge, one of the very few ranges in NJ, is beautiful, but with some very restrictive rules and some really rude range officers. Guess they are getting a lot of gangsta rappas from the urban areas and somehow it spoils their manners.

For those who live in free America, the official NRA range in NJ does not allow:

1. Rapid Fire - that means if you have a new self defense weapon and want to test it under duress i.e. how many in the 10 ring squeezing as fast as you can, go somewhere else. Rapid fire is defined by the range officer. SO even squeezing off one every other second may get you thrown off the range.

2. No holsters or firing from the hip (again, no practicing self defense.)

3. Paper targets only, no images of people. Even Saddam. No reactive targets, pins, milk jugs or anything else that is not a piece of paper hung on their frame.

4. Shooting at approved target frame only which you can buy from them or make yourself.

5. Kids can fire long arms with adult supervision but not handguns.

Sigh.

Someone pointed out that this isn't quite correct. If you are an LEO uber citizen (not regular person) you can use a holster.

After all, in NJ Police are really the only ones allowed to have guns, hence their special privledge on the NRA state organizations range.

Next, We can't have wooden sticks on ANY signs. They are considered weapons, as per the Trenton Police.

There will be a general meeting of the NJCSD on Sunday, June 27th at 12:00noon at the Buckeye Gun Club in Barnegat off of Rt.72. If you’re interested in attending, contact me and I will give you directions to the place. The Rally will be finalized at this meeting.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO TRENTON, NEW JERSEY’S CAPITOL

Follow signs when in Trenton to State Capitol Offices, Capitol Complex, State House, or Cultural Center.
The following directions lead to the Capitol Complex Parking Garage which offers free parking seven days a week. It is located between the Museum and the State House.

FROM NORTH OF TRENTON
Using NJ Turnpike: Take exit 7A (Trenton-I-195 West). Proceed on I-195 West and follow 195/29/129 signs. Stay to left and when road divides go left onto Route 29 N-Capitol Complex/Lambertville. Stay on Route 29 North through tunnel and continue to Memorial Drive exit. Proceed through light at the bottom of the exit ramp (War Memorial on your left), and take the first right to Parking Areas. Follow the jug handle signs to Capitol Complex Parking.
Using Route 1 South: Exit at Market Street. At light make a left and stay in the far right lane. At next light, turn right onto Market Street. Follow Market Street through five traffic lights. Stay in the left lane and follow signs to Route 29 North. Exit Route 29 almost immediately at Memorial Drive. Proceed through light at the bottom of the exit ramp (War Memorial on your left), and take the first right to Parking Areas. Follow the jug handle signs to Capitol Complex Parking.
Using I-95 South: Take Exit 1 (Trenton-Route 29 South). Proceed on Route 29 South to Memorial Drive exit (this is a left exit). Proceed through light at the bottom of the exit ramp (War Memorial on your left), and take the first right to Parking Areas. Follow the jug handle signs to Capitol Complex Parking.

FROM SOUTH OF TRENTON

Using Route 1 North: Take the Delaware River Toll Bridge. Immediately after crossing the river, take Route 29 exit and follow signs to Route 29 North-Lambertville. Proceed to Memorial Drive exit. Proceed through light at the bottom of the exit ramp (War Memorial on your left), and take the first right to Parking Areas. Follow the jug handle signs to Capitol Complex Parking.
Using I-95 North: Take Exit 1 (Trenton-Route 29 South). Proceed on Route 29 South to Memorial Drive exit (this is a left exit). Proceed through light at the bottom of the exit ramp (War Memorial on your left), and take the first right to Parking Areas. Follow the jug handle signs to Capitol Complex Parking.

I have over 40 definites that are on my email contact list of which I believe you are on also.

ANJRPC decided to send out an email to their constituents so who knows how many supporters will come out of that.

We are contacting clubs via email and snail mail asking for them to show up with people. Over 70 of those letters to individual clubs went out weeks ago. Hopefully they passed it along to their membership as was requested.

We will be contacting FFL's in NJ this week also. We just recieved the list.

NEW JERSEYANS TAKE NOTE:

There are now only 391 FFL's in this state as of June 14, 2004 down from over 600 FFL's in 2000.

Finally,
If you don't see this rally mentioned at your club, the place you shoot, or the place you buy your targets/ammo/etc. print out the info on the rally and the contact info and see if they will promote it.

WE ARE VERY MUCH GRASS ROOTS in our money supply and in the way we are getting the message out to others.

That means people need to take the initiative and make this thing happen by either donating funds to the rally and/or showing up instead of just sitting back.

Give us a hand every body!

Update:

Had around 50 people show up. Not bad for a Friday, I guess. A lot more should have took the time to show up than did.

I hope people that could have changed their schedule and show up but did not can live with themselves.

Any type of change begins with each person participating in the process. Without that, all is lost.

That's too bad. Sounds like trying to get PA gun owners to vote. Sometimes (more often of late) I find myself thinking that gun owners are some of the biggest windbags out there. You see a lot of chest thumping but little to no actual action.
Oh they're all ready to run out and buy those cheap full-cap mags when the ban sunsets but they've done what again to help?
For sure there is a hardcore group of enthusiasts working for all gunowners but they'd need to work a lot less if maybe five percent of the gunowners would get off their butts.
Sorry for the rant and for those of you wondering, no I did not make the trip from PA to help Ray either but of course I have my own excuse.
Anyway, I am glad that you had some folks show who actually care and I congratulate all of you who took the time to do something for your "state" and for PRNJ as well.
