Trigger Upgrade

I just bought an Anderson AR-15 for $359 at Primary Arms.
What are your thoughts on upgrading with this trigger or will it not make a big difference?View attachment 1181141

I've got one of the G2S's, and I find it very similar to the LaRue MBT-2.

Normally, I'd just suggest getting the LaRue since it's ~33% cheaper, but with that discount they're about the same.

OP, I don't have the G2S, but I have the LaRue MBT-2S (which is apparently very similar) on my Armalite AR-10 and I'd highly recommend the trigger change unless your Anderson AR somehow came through with an amazingly good "factory" trigger. The LaRue is just right for a general purpose AR, IMO, and made my gun MUCH more enjoyable to shoot and significantly easier to shoot for accuracy.

A big difference in what way? It’s not going to “make” the rifle do anything you probably couldn’t do with a milspec trigger.

I generally just stone them to improve the surface finish, get the $10 JP spring kit and add a set screw under the grip screw, so I can set my sear engagement and call it a day. I do have other triggers on some used for more specific tasks but the above works well and is cheap, two things I like.

I love 2 stage triggers. Congratulations , that is a good price, I thought they would be more expensive.

With the sales going on right now, Geissele is a no brainer. Yes, the MBT and other such triggers can be comparable, but why is it that everyone compares some other trigger to Geissele? Because it's the standard.

For me, the big deal with Geisseles is that they don't attain their trigger pull by using light springs like most others do. Geisseles run on full power milspec springs.

Beware of trigger kits that come with more than one set of springs to "tune" the pull weight. You could shoot a lifetime and never run into a problem, but if you ever squeeze the trigger and don't hear the boom, the trigger is gonna be another thing you're gonna have to consider.

I have bought around 15 Anderson and PSA Magpul enhanced trigger/lower kits and trigger pull varied around 5-6 lbs with some slightly less than 5 lbs. While these triggers are fine for plinking, if you want to shoot for precision/groups, you would benefit from lighter single/two stage triggers with cleaner break. I contemplated between single stage and two stage triggers and read single stage is better suited for fast shooting 3-gun match application due to same trigger pull where as two stage with surprise break after the "wall" is better suited for slow precision shooting and also why I wanted adjustable trigger instead of non-adjustable trigger.

I ordered the Primary Arms Timney single stage Impact AR trigger for adjustable 3-4 lb pull for $85 (Currently sold out).

Also ordered Trigger Tech two stage adjustable 2.5-5 lb trigger for $98 - https://www.primaryarms.com/brand/t...Hot-Deals-on-Top-Selling-TriggerTech-Triggers

As to Geissele SSA-E two stage non-adjustable 3.5 lb trigger, Sportsmans Warehouse has it for $134 with free shipping - https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting...link&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=211021

IMO any better-than-milspec trigger is the single best thing you can do to improve your shooting. I started with the G2S and was super impressed. For $90 it can’t be beat. The Larue is 95% as good, but has a wider trigger face I don’t care for as much. Currently I run about 10 ARs with SSA, SSA-E, SD-C and SD-E. The E’s have a slight edge for me. Flat or curve bow is just personal preference.

That $148 for an SSA-E is the cheapest I’ve ever seen. For years Black Friday would have them at $170.

You may want to look at mcarbo.com as they have a AR-15 trigger spring kit for what they claim is a replacement in any AR. It sells for $14.95 and you can watch their video of the install process. I have installed several of their trigger spring kits (not on an AR) and I've found them to be reliable and easy to install.

How handy are you?
You could learn to do your own trigger jobs. I'm glad I did.
Handy? Slightly...Skilled...not at all, I usually end up with not knowing how things go back together, probably because I don't spend enough time trying:confused:

Take pictures and/or videos before and during disassembly. It's the next best thing to having a shop manual. It's a little-known fact, but that's what modern cell phones were invented for. ;)

I've gotten to like the Geisselle SSA triggers. I like a two stage trigger and the Geisselle is adjusted to about the right trigger pull for me. I get the model that is set for Service Rifle match conditions.

I have a Compass Lake CMP Service Rifle Match AR-15. It has a Compass Lake trigger in it which is great, but I bought some other Compass Lake triggers for other AR-15s and they were not convenient to get dialed in. There are some other triggers n the market that use the same adjustment system as the Compass Lake system.

I'[m pleased with the Geisselle triggers I have purchased.

But, everyone has their own likes and dislikes. Not harm in that.

What I'd do.
Or just drop in a LaRue.

No not a joke it works great.

Until it doesn't. Not something I would do or recommend.

I picked up two of the SSA-E's for stock during this sale. Yes, that is the best price I've seen in a very long time and I have them in nearly all of my AR's.

I had a couple Larue MBT's and that flat trigger face drove me nuts. They also interfere with certain ambi safeties and the instructions say milspec only safeties, I later learned.
