I’ve been looking for another scope and I’m wanting to hear what the views are on the Trijicon Accupoint. I’m also wondering what color illumination works best and why. I have scopes with green and red illumination but have never looked through any with amber. At some point I’ll have to do some hands checking but I’d like a heads up before I go.

I can't comment on the Accupoint but I just purchased a tenmile. It is mounted, and bore sighted, but I haven't shot it yet. EuroOptic has a great sale going and I think I got a fantastic scope at a steal. Initially I had bought an Optika 6 but I returned it in a hurry. I think you will be pleasantly surprised and very happy with your choice. Take your time and look over your options. In my case I saved 33% by settling for a red reticle and Mrad over MOA.

I had read that the amber illumination is dim/hard to see.

Trijicon website says Accupoint 3-9X eyerelief is 2.2-3.8"

Got one on a used rifle, amber triangle. Older one.
Worked fine, kinda cool. But lens/image wasn't as good as I thought it should be.
Definitely look through current models to see if they meet your standards.

Personally I won't go under 2.5" eye relief and prefer 3" at a minimum.
Evidently many people are fine w the specs of Accupoints.

In terms of the quality of the glass, it seems to differ from one line of scopes to the next. I've used the Accupoints and the 1-4x didn't seem as clear as the 1-6. The Credo scopes are also very nice. If you're buying from a place like Eurooptics, you'll get to check it out before deciding to keep it. Just pay attention to things like the eye box at min and max magnification. The eye box is why I chose to go with a Razor instead of the Credo.

Choosing what color to go with will depend on the power source of the illumination. If going with something battery powered, where you can direct control over the brightness, just pick the color that you like best. Most prefer green, but I like red because it provides the most contrast for me. That color doesn't occur in nature, or at least where I go, it provides the contrast I need even at lower levels.

If the power source is gonna be fiber optic, the problem is that the reticle will turns different shades when the brightness of the light source changes and many of those shades blend in with naturally occurring colors. Although all of the colors are subject to this, amber is the worst, green is a step better and red does the best. For me, anyway. Having red and black reticles has rarely let me down.

I have several Accupoints. Red and green work for me on a hunting rifle. Amber would be difficult in the field, but would work on paper or steel.

I have a 3-9x40 Accupoint with MIL-dot crosshair and green dot. It's on my primary hunting rifle. Great, durable scope. I've not tried the other options, but If I bought another, I would go with the same crosshair and dot setup. I've not found a situation where I thought another dot color or shape would work better.

I've successfully hunted in Colorado, north of Craig, for antelope, mulies, and elk with an Accupoint in red for many years. If I were to look for another scope for hunting, I'd get the same thing again.
