Kid has a nice wood and steel 20ga Viper with a 26" barrel. Fairly inexpensive new a few years ago. Probably 2000 rounds through it. Anyway, two weeks ago he closed the bolt while shooting trap and gun fired, slam fire, as the bolt was going forward. Shot shell ruptured, brass cutting his thumb a little, most went out barrel into ground.

He wrote them an email and they said send it in. It went to Oklahoma and was back last week already. All of the internals were replaced including the trigger guard assembly, bolt, spring, etc. It's essentially a brand new gun again.

He put 75 rounds through it last night including one 27 yard round. All is well, and he only missed one week of trap which he made up for last night.

You have a young fan for life, TriStar. Good job.

i,m glad no one was hurt, to avoid slam fires with my rem 1100 trap and rem 11-87 trap i lower the bolt be hand. i never load by letting the bolt slam forward, a high primer-broken firepin could let the gun fire. the cost of the shotgun will be over shadowed by the cost of the ammo pretty quick if you take up the clay games. 2000 rounds=80 boxes x 5-6 dollars a box=400.00 dollars. i have a little 0ver 35,000 rounds thru one of my trap shotguns. 35,000 rounds=1400 boxes x 5-6 dollars a box=7000.00 dollars. eastbank.
