I've wanted an 1851 Navy for years, and I thought I would use this year's tax return to finally get one. The problem is, I can't seem to find one! Based on some feedback I got from some other BP shooters, I was looking for a steel framed gun from Uberti (preferably with the steel backstrap, too, but I'd settle for the brass backstrap model). While the manufacturer still shows them on their website, every on-line retailer I could google up lists them as out of stock and they seem scarce even with the on-line gun auctions sites. :(

Is Uberti still actually making/importing these guns? If so, does anyone know of an on-line retailer who actually has them in stock? If not, are similar quality 1851's available from someone else?

Thanks!

US retailers are at the mercy of the manufacturers and customs when it comes to on hand stocks. They try to get orders to the makers so they will have shipments coming in when they need product. It don't always happen that way.

Don't know who you have checked with, but, if none of the retailers have any (Cimarron, Buffalo Arms, Taylor's, Midway), go for one that has a good price and will take a backorder. Outside of that, Gun Broker can be a good source, ya just gotta keep an eye out..

Back In Stock Already!?

And Midway shows the London Navy model on hand
When I checked the Midway website earlier today, they listed all the Uberti Navy's as out of stock, so I signed up to be notified when they were available again. Fifteen minutes after I posted my original message, I got an email from them saying they were back in stock!

Not knowing how many they had gotten in, I went ahead and placed my order right away so hopefully I'll have my Navy London in my hands some time next week! :D

Thanks to everyone who posted anyway.

Now you've done it. You are going to be hooked. Gotta love the Navies.
I'm only suprised I didn't buy one sooner. I've fooled around with BP long guns for quite a while and I've wanted a Navy ever since I read about Wild Bill's use of them. Can't wait till I have a chance to try it out at the local outdoor range. :)

My Uberti Navy need a bit of work. The arbor fit was typical Uberti (crap) and it didn't shoot to point of aim. Neither of which is a big problem. After a bit of tinkering, it not only shoots to point of aim, but is one of the more accurate BP wheel guns I have. Enjoy

I bought an 1861 Navy from Buffalo Arms a while back, marketed by Cimmaron. I've heard that Cimmaron selects the best of Uberti production, then gives them a little extra fitting and finishing.
My 1861 cost me about $300 from Buffalo Arms, and is worth every penny. The fit and finish are wonderful. It locks up tight and the trigger pull is about 3-1/2 pounds.
If I were you, I'd go with Cimmaron for your 1851 Navy. Or get the "better" Navy, the 1861.
Even if you have to wait, definitely buy an Uberti. The higher quality will be worth the wait.

The Navys are fun. Start adding a shelf in your gun safe. It won't be the last one you buy. :D

The 1851 Navy was my first gun ever, ordered it then jumped through all the hoops to get a license for when it came in. It took four months but it was worth the wait, got some really nice grips on it:

I found out an order from me had been placed on the 8th of Feb, and a package arrived on the 11th containing an 1851 Colt..I think my 1860 Colt named Scarecrow did it, wished he would have picked a little better one though as this one is in need of some tweeking. Got some of them worked out but the arbor fit issue I'm still working on. Hopefully I can go and test it out this week-end minor problems and all.Pistol came from one place and a spare cylinder came from DGW.

Got my Uberti "London" Navy from MidwayUSA Tuesday night. Fast service! Seems very solid and well put together revolver. I'm hoping if the weather report pans out, I'll get to take it out to the range this weekend and give it a try out. :D
