I have a pietta 1858 44 caliber revolver from 2020, I was wondering if I could buy a uberti 1858 18 inch 44 caliber revolver carbine barrel and put it on the pietta 1858 revolver frame, does anyone have experience or tried this?

Thank you for your time

From what I found the threads are the same but the Uberti barrel is too short where it threads into the frame.

Do you think the 12 inch pietta bison target barrel 44 caliber would work better

If the threads are the same the shoulder can be set back to make it fit. As stated earlier the barrel would need to squared and indexed as well as barrel to cylinder gap set. Might be a project for a rainy day type thing but pretty labor intensive for what it's worth. Might be worthwhile on a steel frame but not a brasser. Aren't most of those bison things brass frames?

Thank you for all your responses I really appreciate it, yea all the bison models are brass frames, pietta makes a steel frame model but they don't import them into the USA, pietta sells replacement barrels for the bison so I was gonna buy just the barrel and put it onto my steel frame 1858 but the task sounds a touch out of my skill set

Armi San Marco also made both Steel and Brass framed "Bison" style barreled 1858's!
They show up occasionally on GB as do the Piettas.
Both usually are pricey!
Time or Money!?!
The great conundrum!

I have two 12" models, one brass and one steel. They're Pettias. If you'd like to buy the steel framed one text message me at 810-724-5582. It's been shot one cylinder one time. Three Franklins would cover the gun and shipping. Paul
