UNIQUE alternatives

I tried Longshot in 45acp and had pretty dismal results. The positive is that they all went bang. Tried W231 next and really liked it, so that's my goto. N320 is giving me good results so far, but I have more testing to do.

Ones that I have used that are close
N330, Universal, BE86, WSF


HP38/W231 are a little faster than Unigue but I think would work well for you in 9mm and .45
HP38 is one of my .45 favorite powders.
If no HP38/W231 isavailable Ramshot ZIP is close to them.

You might consider Sport Pistol, AA#2 or N320 as well but they are a little faster. (burn speed)

IMO anything that gives top vels in 9mm is bordering on to slow for .45

Sorry you can't find Unique but at least you are lucky in the fact that there are lots of powders that you could use to do both 9mm and .45 that will work at least decent in each.

x2 on Reddot/Promo used it for years.Have 12 lbs of Unique Im using up now before tapping into Reddot and Promo I have on hand.

Understand that 9mm is a high pressure loading and 45acp is a low pressure loading like 38spl. Optimized for one is sacrifice in the other....

That is a key consideration, OP. It depends on what you want out of your handloads.

Unique easily handles 9mm and .45ACP, in most reasonable velocity ranges... it's one of the things that makes Unique unique, and why I continue to use it. As LiveLife posted, you might actually be better off with 2 different powders, depending on what you wish to load.

Truthfully, after my last testing of powders to replace Unique for both the 9mm and .45ACP, I found nothing that worked better than... Unique. And that is not even considering it's application in other cartridges that I load, like .41MAG and .45 Colt.
