Universal M1 Carbine

Still haven't decided on a price...oiled her up and took a bunch of pix in preparation to move it along to a loving home. I thought I'd post the pix for folks who have a nostalgic feel for these types of guns. It's kinda cool even if it is not a peak/perfection type of firearm...I can see the appeal. I remember now why I bought it all those years ago.

For your enjoyment and in thanks for the dialog about it:

Too bad it's not a 9mm or .223 as I might be tempted to take this one as a project and customize it. But it better belongs to Universal Carbine Aficionados...I'm surprised at how many folks are still interested in these even 30+ years later.

I am not sure there are any Universal M1 Carbine "aficionados" there are, if any. I just get tired of the constant bashing when I have had little trouble with mine over the years. It is great for blowing up water filled plastic jugs and for making tin cans dance with my 30 carbine reloads. I am not sure that qualifies as being an "aficionado". I would, however. due to having the original box and manual offer you $250 dollars for it.

Thanks. Please send me a PM...there are a few others who are interested as well but I think it's inappropriate to conduct that in this thread. ;)

Sincw we've cordially exchanged some PM's with humor and grace, I'll say here what I've said there:

"That's a gorgeous example of what must be the worlds least desirable semi auto rifle."

Pity ya'll couldn't have bought and preserved something worth preserving. Hopefully this is a practice run for the good stuff you've got stuck away!

Show us those boxes of Pre-64 Winchesters now! ;)

:D

Roger that.

When I convert the funds, I hope to buy rifles and build a collection with stuff worthy of actually having and shooting...not that I am disrespecting the Universal M1. Seemed like the thing to do at the time.

My current desires are quite a bit more eclectic and investment worthy so I hope I can get the Universal into the hands of someone who can appreciate it and will get use of it. After handling it again after all this time, it's really kind of a cool piece for a "user" grade beater or truck gun just for banging around when we wouldn't wanna vex a more important piece in the collection. I'd bet this one would do Coyote at 100 yard distances pretty well.

Not a precision/investment grade gun but certainly a functional user in the right hands and mentality. And if dropped in the mud or scratched up a bit it wouldn't matter.
