Count me in, NRA member.

May fly into Raton (best airport in the country, people wise. Spittin' distance from Whittington). I also can put all the guns I want into my plane! :neener:

Correction: I can put all the guns I OWN into my plane, all the guns I WANT wouldn't fit into a C130.

Wife will probably come too, but if she does, we'll most likely drive down from Ft. Collins. She like to shoot, doesn't like to fly. :(

Alright, I'll start working on the wife now, see if I can get her to come along.
If all alse fails, I'll have a kitchen pass from her by Christmas.

As soon as I confirm, you can count on me if you need help organizing/running any events, meals, competitions, etc.
I'm a Maintenance Pro-Super, (ask LennyJoe) so I've got some skills in this area.

I need to know these dates are firm. Airline tickets are alot cheaper when you buy them well in advance. Let me know. It's also a good selling point on getting the family to come along.
Not to mention that I need to get my leave forecast on the books ASAP.

I've been lax in my communication with the NRA. I'll email Mr. Armacost first part of this week and get a dialogue going again. This thing's coming up sooner than we realize.

I talked to my brother Gary Friday night. He is a NM Hunter Safety Instructor and has actually taken part in a gathering at WC about the size of what I expect ours will be. He promised to take a look at this thread, and if need be, join and offer suggestions. (He's an honest to god scientist who works with computers every day, and almost refuses to use one unless he's being paid for it. ;) )

I don't see us changing the dates at this time, unless something tragic comes up, like ranges not being available.

Gary suggested we try to get the meeting room/cafeteria in the shotgun area as a central meeting place. His group was around 100 people and they had plenty of room.

I don't know where we are with the NRA members, but we need to get that rolling so Art can take care of the insurance.
 
Well, what with that being practically right up the street, I don't see how I could reasonably not go. I'm not an NRA member, but I guess if it needs to be, I could eat my words and get a membership.
 
Sounds great. Unfortunately unless my monetary situation changes drastically between now and then, it seems highly unlikely that I''l be able to attend. *Sigh*, I'll be with you in spirit nonetheless.
 
FYI, we booked our room at the Holiday Inn Express in Raton. We stayed there last year when we dropped our son off at Whittington, and it was nice and (IIRC) only about 10 minutes away. They give an NRA discount, so I would call them directly if you are thinking about staying there.
 
Ok, I have a downer here (for me at least). I'm out.:( Sorry. Figured I better speak up now, rather than later.

My father had, unknown to me, already reserved rooms and train tickets in Durango for himself, my mother, me and my wife for the silverton train. He's pre-paid the entire weekend already. His vaction time for the year is set in stone due to company policy, so he can't rebook. Looks like I'll be on the silverton train all day on may 20th.

We were planning on that trip sometime this year. Apparently dad wanted to *suprise* me for my birthday(May 20th).

HOWEVER: IF the date has to change do to the whittington centers schedule, count me in. I have 2 weeks of vacation to burn any way I please.
 
Sorry but I am going to have to drop out. I have to be in Yokosuka, Japan on the 19th now. dangit.... Y'all shoot a couple of mags for me:D
 
We need to get moving on our housing situation guys.

Post if you are planning on staying in one of the units or camping. I'll need to start collecting on the rooms. They are $44 a night double occupancy.

I got one with two beds so if there is a male who wants to share a room, let me know via PM. We'll go halvsies!

Full disclosure: I'm fat, ugly and I snore. So you'll need to factor all that into your decision making.
 
I'll try to get a schedule of events up as quick as I can. I think we need at least one shotgun range to ourselves on Saturday afternoon for Dave and Steve to do their stuff. The Hunter Pistol and Rifle Silhouette range can probably be shared with whatever other guests might be at the WC at the time. Just informal shooting unless somebody has other ideas.

We need to start sending deposits to Bratch for insurance and other incidentals. Art tells me insurance will run about $800, so if we can get 100 participants, it will be fairly cheap. I'll post a sticky soon with more particulars after I talk to Art and Bratch this weekend.

As far as housing, it would be nice if we could kind of stay together as a group. Each competitors housing unit holds 30 people, and there are three of them. I would rather each member reserved their own room, so we don't have the headache of handling that money also. I'll see if the WC can put anybody who mentions "THR" in their reservations can be put into the same unit.
 
My wife kinda wants to go BUT our kids ain't so much into the shootin'...yet, anyway. So she is wondering if there would be any kind of something to keep the kids safe and occupied while both of us are out shooting.

I'd certainly be willing to pay for child care if there was someone, trustworthy, who would do it.
 
I'm not sure what all is in the area. I know a few of the guys on here have been maybe they can chime in.
 
Me and my buddy are going to stay at his grandpa's house about 20 minutes up the road. We'll be in town early that week so if anyone needs help setting up then let me know.

As for insurance, when, where and how much? I'll send it as soon as we know where to send the deposit.
 
We should have the insurance figured this weekend. Once that is taken care of I'll let everyone know an amount to send.
