USFA President and CEO, Douglas Donnelly, announced the introduction of the world's first 12 Shot .22LR Revolver.

We are very proud to introduce the New Model 12/22™ a new and innovative design for a full size 12 shot .22 cal. revolver. We have shot many thousands of rounds through the new 12/22 and it performs….an accurate, durable, robust new design that has never been done before. We even beat all .22 Auto-loading pistols in magazine capacity - a meaningful increase of 20%.

I wonder if there will be timing issues with this revolver.

More vaperware?

They announced a new Colt Woodsman repro in Jan, 2007 and we ain't seen any of them yet!

This is common with all manufactures or has been in the past. They announce a new model and it takes a year before you see any and another 6 months before you can get your hands on one.

I think there was an older revolver in .22 that held twelve rounds and was double barreled. I don't know the brand or anything, it was old like early 20th century old.

This is simply a different cylinder in an SAA-pattern frame. So with minimal re-tooling it should be easy to build this thing.

This would be a good platform for the 5.7 mm Velo-Dog cartridge.

They have brought so many other old time cartridges back from the grave, they might as well bring that one back, too.:)

actually this is a rather outdated way of making a pistol.

theres a gentleman i believe in texas who has a great website of his antique firearms. He has an early 1900s examle of a 22 cal revolver featuring a cylinder with charge holes for about 30 rounds of .22 cartridges using two barrels on top of each other. in the center was a .32 caliber barrel.

Attached is the flyer including retail price USFA released for the new model 10/22.

That 12-shot SA has got to weigh 4 pounds with all that excess steel in the cylinder & barrel. Gonna need a trailer to haul it around in.

I'd rather they would get on with making the belated Colt Woodsman they announced 21 months ago!

rcmodel, you make a good point there. It looks as if USFA's efforts to have this .22 look like a "real" SAA may be a problem. That .22 cylinder would have a lot of rotating inertia (harder to get rotating and harder to stop once rotating) compared to say a .45 Colt cylinder. Also, as you mentioned, the OD of the barrel looks similar or the same as a "real" SAA so that would equate to a significant increase in mass as well.

They could have put 12 flutes on the outside of the cylinder rather than six to reduce the mass ... that would be cool!! After reading the pdf file posted, this caught my attention ... "Cylinder Lock-up in just 30 degrees of rotation! Normally it takes 60 degrees to achieve cylinder lock-up." I suppose the reduction in performance due to the extra rotating mass could be offset to some extent by the reduction in rotation required for cylinder lockup.

I look forward to reading the reviews from folks here that buy one. I have two USFA revolvers so I know that they make an excellent product ... however, I won't be buying one of these anytime soon!!

:)

Just checked out the US Firearms site.
Some models look quite good. They also look very expensive. Are they really worth those prices ? Has anyone on THR have any personal hands on experience with any of them?

They are as good as it gets in Colt SAA clones.

Some say even better then the real thing, for less money.

If USFA could create this beast and sell it. It sure would make Colt and Ruger sit up and take notice. If the quality rivaled stuff made by Freedom Arms, it might sell. Expensive yes.

I bought two USFA Rodeo's from Jim at www.longhunt.com a few months ago and they're outstanding revolvers. The fit and finish is just perfect and they function beautifully. Jim makes a bunch of improvements which makes a good deal ($625 for one, $595 if you buy two) a GREAT deal. I got consecutive serial numbers at no extra cost ... USFA charges $100 for that alone.

I would (will) buy USFA revolvers again, and again, and again ....

:)

This .22 makes sense as an SAA-sized "trainer" for your main centerfire guns. A bit heavier, yeah, but shouldn't be TOO bad?

I bought one of the Turnbull 'Classic' USFAs - it's nice but doesn't seem to have the precision of the STI.

Looks a wee bit better, though.

I already have a 12 shot .22 in a Colt New Frontier. Of course 6 of them are Mags. ;)

Need an adjustable sight model and this would make a great hunting handgun for small game.
