In MN. a dealer can only sell a steel framed Heritage Rough Rider. Yhat's ok, but then the price is close to a used Ruger Single Six. Does anyone have experience with BOTH guns? If so, what are your thoughtss as to which is better for occasional plinking?
Thanks.

I found myself in the same situation last week, I wanted a SA .22 but wasnt sure what...

I ended up going to the local gunshop and getting a used single-six
5.5" bbl, stainless steel, dual cylinders (22/22mag), it is in such good shape it could pass for new. for $289.

I really was interested in the Heritage, but wasnt able to handle any, so being the impulse kind of guy I am I went with what I could get.

I have heard nothing but good things about the Heritage pistols though.

I've had a few Single-Sixes over the years, and a friend bought a Rough Rider. No comparison, the Ruger is easily 10 times the firearm. a couple bucks in savings isn't worth it at all.

My brother and I bought my father a 6.5 inch Rough Rider a few years ago for his birthday. Wasn't too expensive, seemed to be well-built, came with .22lr and .22 magnum cylinders, and came in a nice wooden felt-lined presentation box. He loved it, and it shoots really nicely. Now he wants to paint the front blade so he can see it. :)

The "safety" system on the Heritage is just plain funky...and in my opinion, a good way for a newbie to have an AD.

Nooooooo thank you.

Actually, I have both. I bought the Ruger used for $250. It is stainless with the 6.5" barrell and adjustable sights. I bought the Heritage new for $119. It's blue, 4", and has fixed sights. The Ruger is a better all around pistol, however for the $ the Heritage works very well, and has had no problems. It is accurrate with either cylinder, but not quite as accurrate as the Ruger. If the price is real close, I'd go with the Ruger. But if the disparity is similar to mine, and all you want is a fun plinker, I'd get the Heritage.
