Vermont "Governor's Gun" Raffle for Kid's Camps

"Governor's Gun" Raffle

Governor James Douglas has donated the 2003 Friends of the NRA "Gun of the
Year" he won at the Champlain Valley Friends of NRA Banquet in Milton. The
gun is to be raffled off by the Vermont Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs. The
winning raffle ticket is slated to be drawn by Governor Douglas at the Federation
Banquet on March 20th at the Montpelier Elks Club, staring at 5 P.M.

Governor Douglas won this Beretta AL391 Urika 20 Gauge semiautomatic
shotgun at the Champlain Valley Friends of the NRA Banquet in October.
The shotgun raffle will be limited to two thousand $5.00 tickets raising
$10,000 and the Federation will give a one thousand dollar matching donation
in a quest to raise $11,000.00 with the proceeds from the raffle to be donated
to the two State of Vermont Conservation Camps.

In checking with the NRA Foundation, it was determined this gun is the
only Friends of the NRA "Gun of the Year" that has ever been won by a
sitting governor. The gun bears number 464 of 950, in this one time
production run. The NRA Seal, a hunting scene and 2003 Friends of the
NRA "Gun of the Year" are etched on the receiver of the gun.

Govenor Douglas won this shotgun by buying a raffle ticket just like everyone
else who took a chance on winning the gun. The winning ticket was pulled
by a child and the crowd was very pleased when Governor Douglas won the
raffle.

The Buck Lake Camp is located in Woodbury and the Kehoe Camp is
located in Bomoseen. Governor Jim Douglas is giving Vermonters a
great opporunity to help raises badly needed funds for the state
conservation camps, while having a chance to win a unique and
valuable firearm.

Raffle tickets may be purchased at the Federation tables at the
Yankee Sportsmen's Classic, the Barre and Morrisville guns shows,
at the Federation Banquet or from Federation President Henry Holmes
at (802) 234-9790.
