Thanks for the calarification.

I was questioning the 'charge bar', that's what I was calling the micro meter... I know see where you get the 'some people swear by/at them'. I guess I will pass on that, but I did see te micro disc you spoke of. I am not clear on if the micro disk can be used in conjunction with the regular disc, similar to the disk doubler setup. Or, if it is a stand alone disk.

I might just forget about all that and just get an extra set of disk and drill as needed like you say. We will see. So far, I guess I have no need to change anything for the particular load I was doing as it is working really well as is.

I find the Microdisk for the Autodisk most useful for very fast powders like Bullseye where you need just a pinch or so.

I've been looking to go with the Lee Classic Turret too to replace my RCBS Rockchucker. I know it's a step down in quality, but it's all I can afford ATM. Good to hear you like it, i've heard good things from others as well.

I think you are selling it short by thinking it is a step down. Get it and use it for a while and you'll be wishing you got it before now. You'll wish you had bought it first.

I will never replace my rockchucker or my classic cast turret. They both go hand in hand for me.

Bemidji.. ever thought much about getting an ultrasonic cleaner? I have the one from Lyman. It to me is worth all $89.00 i payed for it and the cleaner lyman puts out "turbosonic" works rally well.

I too just got a lee classic turret press last week. Its the egg McMuffin of presses

My wife got one for me and it is the best. I can clean the brass in 8min that was very dirty. The once shoot will clean in 4min. That beats my tumbler a Long way. The ultrasonic is the way to go.

I got one last Christmas, after a learning curve, the turret press has been fine, all the bullets went 'bang', all my guns still work!

GT1,
I might be. I haven't used Lee before, but there is always the old adage "You get what you pay for", but again I've heard good things about Lee, so it may throw it out the window. I've also heard bad, but you always hear good/bad about any product...I'll reserve my judgment until I use the product, which I look forward to soon. If I see quality in Lee, RCBS can go suck a fat one :D

I have used both the Lee adjustable charge bar and the Lee micro disk on my pro disk PM. Both work well in their target areas. The adjustable charge bar works very well 3.8 gr & above throwing charges +/- .1 gr consistently (W231). The Lee Micro Disk is designed to throw smaller charges and does so consistently as long as I keep things clean and use consistent lever mechanics.

The bottom line is both are cheap and easy to use in my experience. I hoep this helps.

"a step down"? Cast iron, milled parts spot on quality control. Why does Lee get such a bum wrap? If it does the job well and produces a quality product isn't that proper engineering not over engineering?

After the initial setup problems mine is running smoothly. I have two complaints about it. First Lee's instructions are the worst. I'm mechanically inclined so it wasn't really an issue but still bothers me. Only other thing is the safety prime. It's no longer dropping primers on the floor after adjusting it over and over. And it would be nice if it worked at the top of the stroke. Having to back it off slightly works and you get used to it. But I still feel like it's not designed as it should be. I know I'm not the only one with this problem. At the end of the day they are both small issues and I am glad I bought it. I would recommend it to anyone.

My safety prime feeds at the very top of the stroke. To align it I stood over the press and sighted straight down while watching the action of it, it was easy to line up that way.
If there still is a problem just raise it up with another spacer to prime at the top of the stroke.

Lee instructions are sparse for some things, it's a press though, there isn't a whole lot to it.

The problem is the prime arm. At the top of the stroke the top of the primer feeder hits the underside(of the top) of the press. I am not able to push it fully forward to drop the primer in the cup. I tried adjusting it and just gave up after many attempts. Now I just have to slightly back off after sizing and all is well. They could easily design some small notches in the top that the bracket lines up with. It would save a lot of frustration.

Did you put the washer under or on top of the primer mounting bracket? Mine works at full stroke.

I guess I should qualify that, and say that I've only used the small primer so far.

Tried it both ways. Same problem. It's currently on top and it hasn't been dropping primers since I moved it there.

I put mine on top the bracket. It took about 3 of 4 attempts at getting a primer dispenced, in order to get it to do it every time. Don't know if it was me, or just needed to broke in, but after that it dispenced like intended.
