Very strange experience, and a nice S&W.

Last week I bought a box of pistol boxes, arriving today while I was at work.
Also
Today I received an email that I unexpectedly won a Hong Kong police/customs S&W M10 for cheap via online auction. Set a $450 bid last week and got the invoice today out of the blue.
Nice.

So I got home in a good mood. Found the box of pistol boxes, opened it, and SCORE, a Colt magnum carry box, a super nice Para box, a colt mustang 2 box with magazine, a few more, and down at the bottom...

What. The . Heck.
Two different sellers, on different sides of the country. Random auction lot of boxes.
If I'm seeing right, I need to go buy a lottery ticket.

But the Mexican cartel can have our surplus guns but we can’t. This is some kind of interwoven braid in the gun world. Whose guns do the Hong Kong folks get?
none! Was on a Wife business trip for a month there in 2012 and they had a Trap Field off the side of a mountain. I inquired about it, very private $$$$$ club, they can buy shotgun there but the club owns it, or something like that.

$450!!! WOW! and it’s a Hong Kong Duty gun. That thing looks NEW!

I love the fact that we can buy their HK surplus guns and they can’t.
It probably is. From what i'm to understand, the HKRP/Customs & Excise ordered several thousand M10's just as they were transitioning to semi auto's, so they were never issued. Eventually they were sent back for credit, and the guns were surplused as new with no import marks.
Its got a lanyard ring from the factory, on a S&W from the 90's. How cool is that, the last remnant of a bygone era.

I would pay $600-$700 easy for that gun! very cool history, or lack there of

Similarly, Peru ordered Model 10's & 37 snubs in 1984 for their version of FBI and canceled the order after they were stamped with the Peruvian crest. S&W offered them to US dealers, so they never shipped to Peru and every one I've seen is in great condition as is the OP's. I bought one not long ago.

Congratulations on your new Model 10 C&E @silicosys4

In 2017 I was perusing Cabela’s Gun Library online and came across my Model 10 C&E in Baton Rouge, LA. I paid the $25 to have it shipped to the Cabela’s in Oregon.
The price was $600. At that time you couldn’t swing a dead cat in here without hitting someone that could “find $300 model 10’s all day long.” I didn’t care about the price when I put it in my hands. The gun was basically brand new only it had a used set of Magna factory grips on it. I figured the gun sat in an armory and someone swapped its grips out to have a new set on their carry piece.
Here it is today, literally. I just took these photos as I couldn’t find some older photos I had showing the C&E number.

Again, Congrats on a very nice model 10. 😊

EDIT: I dressed it up with some Altamont “Service Panels” and a BK grip adapter. I love this set up.

jezz man! that’s practically BRAND NEW

BTW, that is .38 Special? With the sort of Brit connection, thought it might be a .38 S&W.
Great catch in any case, and the box is amazing.

Wow, I want one of those lanyard rings! What a nice revolver. A 4" model 10 is something special, weather a tapered or bull barrel, they just work.
You can find a limited supply of the strap type lanyard rings on eBay. The one that came on my gun was round or circular. I prefer the looks of that one.
I did a search looking for the round ones and could only find them for Nagants and Pietta Colt clones.

Pat, can you tell us a little more about your lanyard ring? Guessing it isn't strap attached to the stock pin; not the right place. Thanks.
