Yep, it looks like this quote is an example of why we should be spending the money on grammar schools here instead.

i appolagize if i offended you with my spelling . i did not realize it was so important.however the remark you made above , insinuating that i am not educated is kind of a cheap shot.i think there are more importanty things to worry about than how someone spells a word. just like everyone else here on these forums i am also entitled to my own opinions whether they are the same as yers or not.

i did not leave any other countries out on purpose, it's just that these were the ones that came to mind ,because they seem to be in the news more often than others.

once again i appolagize if i offended any one .that was not my intention

There is a very specific reason why they "seem to be in the news more often than the others." Especially in connection with Iraq/WOT. Think about it.;)

I told workers after seeing the video with them that many Americans are ignorant and appathetic. They said they'll NEVER FORGET! I said like Daniel Pearl....they said WHO?! EXACTLY!!!

Pa. family angry with American government over son's brutal death

…
Berg's family said U.S. State Department officials on Monday had told them Berg was decapitated. The family, though, had wanted that information to remain private.

When told about the Web site, Berg's father, brother and sister, grasped one another in a standing hug and slowly dropped to the ground, where they quietly shed a few tears while holding on to each other.

"I knew he was decapitated before," said the father, Michael Berg. "That manner is preferable to a long and torturous death. But I didn't want it to become public."

Michael Berg lashed out at the U.S. military and Bush administration, saying his son might still be alive had he not been detained by U.S. officials in Iraq without being charged and without access to a lawyer.

Nick Berg, a small telecommunications business owner, spoke to his parents on March 24 and told them he would return home on March 30. But Berg was detained by Iraqi police at a checkpoint in Mosul on March 24. He was turned over to U.S. officials and detained for 13 days.

His father, Michael, said his son wasn't allowed to make phone calls or contact a lawyer.

FBI agents visited Berg's parents in West Chester on March 31 and told the family they were trying to confirm their son's identity. On April 5, the Bergs filed suit in federal court in Philadelphia, contending that their son was being held illegally by the U.S. military. The next day Berg was released. He told his parents he hadn't been mistreated.

Michael Berg said he blamed the U.S. government for creating circumstances that led to his son's death. He said if his son hadn't been detained for so long, he might have been able to leave the country before the violence worsened.

"I think a lot of people are fed up with the lack of civil rights this thing has caused," he said. "I don't think this administration is committed to democracy."

Why was he detained in Iraq? And why wasn't he allowed a lawyer? What happened after he was released?

If the network news put the entire beheading video on the prime time news as much as they show the photos of the reservist from WV, the U.S. citizenry might come to the mindset of what it will take to win this war.
My boss (and friend) is a perfect liberal-he gets offended by everything. If someone makes a joke, the first thing he does (if everyone else is laughing) is give us all a roll of the eyes and a subtle "tsk, tsk." Why? To visibly demonstrate that like so many liberals, he recognizes that someone may be offended by the joke, i.e. surely we're making fun of some class of person, some race, some minority, some-body that isn't there to defend themself. In the past few months, he has tried to make some "inclusive" and positive remarks about Moslems. OK.

I've tried to make it clear to him before (and I will certainly do so again, by using the example of this horrific act), that the people committing this act of barbarism would gladly do the same to his wife, his son, and his daughter (and I name them). They are unconcerned whether the person under this knife is a liberal, a conservative, a Democrat, a Republican, or an employee of an American oil company. It's enough that he's an American. Anyone that sees this, heck anyone that just hears of this, and clings to the notion that this wouldn't have been done if not for the pictures of GI's humiliating Iraqi captives, or if we weren't in Iraq, is delusional.

I wouldn't say for a minute (without proof) that committing acts like this have been discussed by Moslems in an American mosque, but I guarantee you some of them tonight smiled as big when they saw this as they did on 9-11.

Well W4,

He was released unharmed by us. He was captured by criminal cleric's hoods and beheaded on TV. There is no way to blame the US for this, sorry. Rather, try looking past your hate of Bush and at this video.

Watch it again. Listen to the rethoric. We are not as evil as you'd like to paint us. But they most certainly are, see?

I just saw the video and then watched some coverage of it on Fox News.

I started crying, like I did a few months after 9/11 (when it finally sunk in). I don't know why. He just seemed like such a nice guy. He reminds me of people I know... and they just butchered him like an animal.

:fire:

And then I remembered that we are going to kill those savages and I felt better.

I can about guarentee that there were hundreds of millions of people in the world who smiled or will smile when they saw those events. Maybe only in private for most, but let's not kid ourselves: there are hundreds of millions of people in the world who hate and/or fear the US greatly and revel in any and all negative events that happen to us or are thurst upon us.

And they are not all Muslim.

Havent read the whole thread, stopped on the 3rd page, but i just wanted to make it known that i think iraq would be a wonderful place for a nice, flat parking lot. kick off construction festivitys with a MOAB on every mosque. religion of peace my arse.

I've had it. w4mra, no matter how much you would love to blame this on Bush and the US officials, there is no way. The man was detained. The man was released unharmed. The Islamic groups captured him and cut his head off.
If we don't take off the gloves now, we may as well leave the Middle East forever and be ready for Islamic nuts to commit terrorist attacks on our soil until the end of time. Anyone who watches that video and wants to blame Bush, the US, America, just isn't rational. Anyone that watches that video and won't condemn it, or says that its our own fault, that we had it coming is at the very least an enemy of the United States, a traitor. At worst...not even human...like the sonsofbitches that did this.
If this isn't clear or coherent, I apologize, but after watching this video I can't really even think the way I usually do. I've never felt so disgusted about anything. I hope they rot in hell for all eternity. I know I'm not supposed to hope that about anyone, but I do. God forgive me.

Agreed, but then those living outside the U.S. aren't living in this country, enjoying all the benefits that America has to offer, while at the same time funding terrorists that would kill Americans. I don't believe all Moslems fall into that group, but considering the huge numbers of them living here, they're one very silent group when it comes to condemning acts like the murder on this video. Don't sit by the TV too long in the coming days, waiting to hear about American Moslem groups asking for acts like these to be stopped by Moslems in the Middle East. Likewise, I wouldn't think any mosques will be raisng donations for the victims family for burial, memorials, etc. Most of them are quite happy to be Moslems in America, with little interest in being American Moslems

I haven't watched the video. I've seen plenty of islamist barbarism in video and print that haunts my fragile American dreams already. I know what it looks like without seeing it. I can see them slice through his neck, sawing like it's a side of beef even now, I can see his eyes squint shut against the pain and horror, but I haven't seen the video and I don't intend to. I don't need yet more images, proof that evil exists, rattling around in my head to keep my fire up.

This war is just begun. The barbarity of the middle east will land on the front page again and again. It's been a long time coming, and it will be a long time before we rest.

We will not be defeated. The only question is how much mercy can we stomach to present to our enemy. We choose to bestow our mercy only to salve our own souls, our enemy has no appreciation for it.

All you america haters who somehow call this barbarian act justifiable

Who exactly are you claiming has called this barbarian act "justifiable"? Names, please.

You have got to be f'ing kidding me. What is your point? Just come out and say it. SAY IT.

Michigander = "useful fool". A member of the unwitting 3rd column. Beneath contempt in the cynical and arrogant way he gives our enemies the benefit of the doubt while always believing the worst of his own countrymen. You have a right to your fact-free opinion, Michigander, and I have the right to point out that you are a waste of oxygen.

If I'm not mistaken, this sounds like a very personal attack on me!

Perhaps you haven't read The High Road Rules Of Conduct where it states:
4.) Spamming, trolling, flaming, and personal attacks are prohibited. You can disagree with other members, even vehemently, but it must be done in a well-mannered form. Attack the argument, not the arguer.

Michigander, you're right. Post deleted.

I vehemently disagree with your politics, but we all need to abide by the rules of the forum.

Middy,

Thank you for deleting your comments.

Now, what part of what I said did you have a problem with?

Right.

It's time for a breather.

Feel free to restart this one, although I strongly suggest you preview this thread: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=81354
before doing so.

Ladies and gentlemen, if you don't think I'm serious in the above thread, you'd best talk to a long-time Member of The High Road or TFL.

Lights out.
