My $.02 given the experience of a good friend who has a Ruger and got the Vortex Golden Eagle.
After mounting the scope he could barely get to 1,000 yds (6.5 CM) before hitting the top end of the elevation adjustment. When he checked where his 100 yd zero was relative to the mechanical bottom of the scope something was clearly off. (It was as if the scope wasn't mounted on a 20 MOA rail - which the Ruger has.) Vortex (surprisingly to both of us) didn't even seem interested in seeing if the problem was with their scope. At the very outset, via multiple Vortex people, the answer was the same: "It's not Vortex's problem."
He called Ruger and my bud said they acted so fast it was as if they were preparing a new rail to ship as he was on the phone.
I think the new rail from Ruger solved his problem (don't know for sure). I do know for sure he feels VERY good about Ruger's customer service. And feels the exact opposite towards Vortex. He didn't know where the problem was, but he was stunned at how quickly and with no interest or investigation on Vortex's part they dismissed it as not their problem.
So, after you get it mounted and sighted in I'd check the distance to the mechanical bottom of the elevation adjustment......just to be sure everything seems copacetic with how much up adjustment you have available.....especially if it might be a while between getting it sighted in and when you can actually try getting out to very long distances.

Edit: I'm not down on Vortex. I'm a new owner of an HS-T and I *love* it. It has performed well for me. It has helped me get .243 bullets out to 1,000 yds.
