VT: Bloomberg pushes UBC based on False Info

Bloomberg's "Everytown for Gun Safety" calls for Universal Background Checks for Vermont based on bogus data.

"The glaring weakness in Everytown’s “research”—more accurately described as blatant gun control propaganda—is that the group only established that some prohibited persons were interested in attempting to acquire firearms via the Internet. They failed to establish that so much as a single purchase was made to a prohibited person.Yes, you read that correctly. Mr. Bloomberg’s group failed to provide and evidence that so much as a single firearm was acquired via online sales..."

As stupid as the Anti's are, they are pretty good about not making felons out of themselves (usually; see that dude caught carrying in the school and Shannon's latest call for street violence against lawful carriers)

If this is anything like Bloom's eleven other Armslist stings (seriously, what is it with him and that one website?), they put up a phony gun ad with the purpose of snagging a felon (which for reasons I've never understood isn't considered entrapment or conspiracy to commit a sale to a prohibited person), and crow "Hallelujah" when some brother of Darrel named Darrel hits them up for a rendezvous at the local Wal Mart. A meet up that probably can't happen since the gun is neither real nor would likely be in the same state as the seeking felon (again, fraud issues, even for an illegal transaction assuming the guy is a PP).

They have to say "if this was a real sale and we were in that state and we had a gun to sell and this guy was a felon as he appears to be...<breath>...then we could sell the piece to him without a background check, illegally, if we wanted to, which we don't, because that would be illegal, thus proving that we actually don't need more laws than we already have (even though they are too weak and unenforceable to stop a determined criminal)" <pant, pant, pant...>. If they did any more than that, they'd go to jail since they can't actually do 'stings,' since they are not law enforcement (and since Bloomberg isn't Hizzonah anymore, he can't illegally divert public resources to have them conduct the sting for him like in the 'ol days)

The sad part is, if Bloomberg could sway Burlington he can win the state. Outside the hippy Mecca that is Burlington there are tons of firearms, most state estimates put there are 6 firearms for every person in the state. Burlington is the issue and is filled with people from out of state for school or business that usually vote on the left side of things. VT would be a textbook example of grass roots gun rights activism, if Burlington wasn't there.

This is the new game in town, I hope the citizens in VT see through it, WA didn't. Bloomberg and his ilk are getting smarter by the minute.
