Levi Strauss getting in bed with Bloomberg

No skin off my nose, I haven’t orn Levi’s in probably 30 decades or so now. I stick with pants worn by working men like Carhartt or Wrangler or 5.11.

More attempts at social engineering by liberals running corporations. These are people who clearly believe that you can’t think for yourself, therefore they know what’s best for you...just ask them!

Stay free from liberal group-think!

Thanks for the Heads Up, olns, but as several have already pointed out, Levis has been a resident of the Poo List for as long as many/most of the membership here has been alive. :)
One reason I probably didn't realize several of the points folks have made so far (like the outsourcing and the high prices) is that I wear skirts (as opposed to pants) and buy almost all my clothes from one or two online catalogs that have reasonable prices and where I know the quality and sizing ahead of time. And being relatively new to shooting, 40 years ago I wouldn't have been paying attention to corporate pronouncements on gun rights. Sad to learn. In my teens everybody wore Levis, they were really iconic.

^This. The last pair of Levis I owned were probably made in the early 70s.
Cleaning out to move I found (in the storage building where there was the last 40 years of my life PLUS earlier stuff that I had saved for whatever reason) a pair of Levis from probably 60 years ago... I guess I once had a sentimental attachment to them, I bet I can now sell them on eBay for $$$.

^^^
Since worn and torn jeans seem so popular, it might add to their value (and your satisfaction) to put a bullet hole through those jeans before you list them on eBay. Jest sayin' ...

Well, you didn't seem to care when Levi moved most of their production to East Asia. Why are you suddenly concerned now?

You fully and willfully participated in the "hollowing out" of American manufacturing and suddenly you're concerned about some football player not standing for the anthem you betrayed years ago?

Levi's makes low-quality jeans that fade and rip quickly. Some denims are better than others, and Levi's don't hold up well. Also, they go for the hipster fit, way below the waist for that flattering plumber's-crack look. If you want uncomfortable pants that make your legs look short and emphasize your gut, Levi's are for you.

Carhartts fit at the waist, the way pants are supposed to. They last. They allow you to move. You can put a Glock, a big knife, car keys, a large cell phone, a wallet, and a bandana in the pockets, and you still have a hammer loop left and a secret side pocket left over. The waistband is tough and stands up to Carhartt suspender buttons. Forty bucks.

I don't believe I have ever owned a pair of Levi jeans. So I cannot really boycott a company I have never invested any money in. Ironically enough most of my non Wrangler jeans say Enfrabique en Mexico anyway.

Stopped buying them over 20 years ago when they raised the price-------it was the final straw because they are poor quality(the crotch would always rip out) and are just selling a "name".

My cheap Lee's and Wrangler's last much longer and at fraction of the price.

Been wearing Wranglers and Sam's Club for a few years, so I can't even give them the capitalist punishment they so richly deserve.

I am really tired of corporations using part of the money I pay them for goods and services to either a) social engineer for me, or b) give donations to organizations I don't approve of, or c) both. Darn it, charge me what the item is worth to give you a decent profit and not a penny more to increase your sense of well-being through donation to your own causes. Corporations should never be allowed to donate; just the shareholders of said corporations from their own personal income from that corporation. I'm also tired of constantly being asked at checkout if I want to donate a dollar to this or that. NO, because if I do, the business gets the credit and the tax writeoff and I only get another dollar taken from my pocket to keep from feeling guilty about saying no.

Rant over.

I did the above?

I work as a RSO/instructor and being tall and thin, I dislike the bagginess of the everyday tactical pants seen on every YouTube instructor on the planet.
Over the last year I have been wearing 5.11 jeans for work. They are frequently discounted at 20% off making them around $50. Pricey? Maybe, but I have found they wear very well, have some stretch, and they have a extra pocket at hip level on each side for sell phones, knives, etc.

Since the thread got closed there, I'm gonna just copy and paste my post from another forum.......

Since "Levi Strauss" is still privately owned by the family, and not publicly traded(except it's company in Japan), a slight drop in sales is probably expected and not detrimental to a family wishing to support their personal ideals. In the past, boycotts have shown to have little or no impact on companies as large and as diverse as this. This is no different than the stand taken by Nike earlier this week with Collin Kaepernick. I'm sure both stands were weighed heavily before making any announcements and the risk any negative outcome understood. Levi's priced me outta their customer base a long time ago. I really have nuttin' to boycott.

I have nuttin'more to add.
