Quit wearing them several years ago when I couldn't get more than 1 year out of them before being full of holes.

I've been buying the Sportsmans Guide jeans ever since for $14-15 and they're super heavy duty and last 2-3 years of hard use.....Good riddance Levi. :neener:

I quit wearing Levi's years ago when they decided to go political. "Shut up and sell good jeans," I say. Any company that wants to make politics instead of product loses my faith pretty quickly. As Milton Friedman once said, "The social responsibility of a business is to make a profit." You do that by offering a product or service that people want, at a competitive price. 'Nuff said.
My little company (I own and started years ago) has 7 employees...technology company.....we allow open carry on company property...the company pays 100% of Concealed Handgun License Fee's and provides paid time off to go to the CHL classes....we make a profit and my employees are also owners through our stock vesting plan.....Large jobs that come in we outsource to more expensive American developers versus my competitors who utilize India developers....why? Cuz I am making a political statement.
Now if Levi wants to do the same thing then good for them...I wont buy their products...and if they dont like my political statements they dont have to use my software......
and I am using a Linux machine to post this message :) I dont like Bill Gates either :)

What don't they get? Murder rates have gone down in the past few years... And an armed community is a polite one anyway. What are they trying to say? That all gun owners are blood thirsty murderers?

Wow Levis is anti gun!
A San Franciso company that is anti-gun? Whould a thunk it???

I haven't tried Wrangler's yet, next time I'm jean shopping I'll look for some. Besides, Favre is the cover boy (man) for them, and I look up to him as role model.
Brett Favre and Dale Earnhardt Jr. And Dale senior drove with Wrangler as his primary sponsor for years before Richard Childress roped GM Goodwrench as a sponsor.

Yeah, I follow and support all of the above. :)

Okay, I guess I need some edumication here. I don't claim to know much of anything about Pax USA, the organization referred to in the quoted message, except that their website reflects two initiatives: One to encourage parents ensure that their kids don't have access to guns where they play, and the second to encourage kids in school to report concerns about threats of violence before they materialize as shootings.

Is there more? Because, if there isn't neither of these approaches seems out of line. It doesn't particularly matter to me since I don't wear Levi's anyway, but it seems a lot of folks here are willing to join a boycott without knowing why they're boycotting. Could someone fill us in on their anti-RKBA efforts, if there are any?

With the fear of sounding very anti gun.......who cares.

This is turning into the age old "buy American" so the economy can improve. It never will just because you buy American.

You cannot fully isolate yourself from anti gunners in every aspect of your life at all times forever. You can take logical steps like joining and participating in the NRA or by getting into CMP.

Why not be totally right wing while your at it and live off the grid so the money grubbing power companies cannot profit off of you.

Did you know Microsoft promotes a liberal agenda? You better get rid of your computer. Buy a Mac but wait, they support a liberal agenda too. Good luck in your quest my friend because the anti-gunners are too many to avoid.

Exactly

Ya know.... I just bought my 1st pair of those and I gotta say I'm very impressed so far (only have had them for a few months)

Now I will never buy Levis, Actually I stopped buying there product when they gave up on the American worker and moved there operation off shore. So long and good by to Levis. :barf:

By that logic I should only be buying Toyota, Honda, and Hyundai because they are the only car mfgs that seem to be opening up plants in America where as GM, Ford, Chrysler just seem to be closing factories in America and outsourcing more. :scrutiny:

Levi Strauss & Co. supports PAX's goal to bring all Americans together to support common sense solutions to the gun violence epidemic.

Isn't "common sense solutions" called "shooting back" or "self defense?"

I have not bought Levis for years...Back in my hippie days, a pair of levis took a dozen washings to soften up, and they would last for a couple years of tough hippie wear...Now, they wear out quickly...just not the same product. Just a marketing name.

Have you looked at their materials? They describe two programs:

-One urges parents to make sure that their kids don't have access to loaded and unlocked guns?

-The second encourages schoolkids to report it when other kids threaten violence at school.

If there's more, I'd like to hear about it. But, based on what I see on the web, there's no gun control agenda being pushed by Pax, just a stupidity control agenda.

This is not an issue for me. I haven't seen the ad either though it does sound pretty horrible. I grew up wearing Levi's and continued to wear them after most other folks were wearing other brands. However when they closed their plants in this country I saw no further need to remain loyal to their brand. I have been buying Wranglers from Wally World. They seem to last longer & are cheaper.

I am a firm believer in kids having access to guns. If they are properly educated and show responsibility. I do not need the anti-gunners to tell me how to raise kids. My stepsons are both now in their twenties and have had access to guns since they were 8. No accidents or shootings. We know how to use guns responsibly.

Levi's supports PAX, who claims to be dedicated to the vision of a society free of gun violence.

A section of the Brady Bunches mission statement claims that they exist to increase public awareness of gun violence.

That single similarity alone is enough to convince me.

I stopped buying Levis about 10 years ago when they stopped supporting the Boy Scouts of America because they wouldn't let gays into the organization. I'm not anti gay I'm just pro BSA. I'm an Eagle Scout and I have a good friend who is an Eagle Scout, and is gay.

I guess I'm not a good team player but I just don't care what the folks who make my jeans profess about gun ownership. I don't care what the folks who sell me a hamburger believe about global warming. Nor do I care what the folks who make my computer have to say about anything but computers.

Life is too short and money is too scarce to spend searching websites for a company's politics or pass up a bargain if I don't agree with some foundation's mission statement. I'll focus on trying to make a difference where an actual difference can be made. Boycotts just seem so futile.

It's not global warming, it's global climate change. Sheesh, how are we supposed to scam, errr, convince people of the truth if you keep using the wrong terminology?!

Wow. Just wow.

I don't buy Levi's Jeans anymore because they just don't hold up like they used to. You can tell there is a huge difference in quality over the last 10 years or so, and I just can't see tossing a pair of jeans out in under a year from normal use like daily wear, not actual work.

I figured while I was at it I'd check out PAX and saw this about their SPEAK UP program

Superintendent Frank Till of Cumberland County School District states, "this program will give our community the ability to help keep our schools safe. It will make us even more aware of possible threats so that incidents can be prevented."

Uh, no.

You're the superintendent of your school district and its YOUR job to do this. Where has personal responsibility gone? Maybe your truancy officer needs to find it and bring it back to class.
