Mayors Against Illegal Guns cites that same line of BS, but a quick read of the organizations goals certainly dispels that simple statement. Anti-gunners use that line as a crutch to sound reasonable, but the goal of taking guns out of the hands of all citizens sure as hell would make a society free of gun violence wouldn't it?

And what do they consider gun violence? I consider violence toward a human being to be violence. But who's to say they don't consider hunting violent or target shooting violent (because it is practice). The term "Gun Violence" is too broad. It seems more like a rally point for all the antis to latch onto because it is so broad.

Exactly, use the broad brush approach, using terms that sound reasonable, and it makes the uninformed believe they're being noble. The name itself, "against illegal guns" shows that quite well, who isn't against illegal guns? Even the NRA is against prohibited people having access to firearms. They use the term "reasonable gun regulations" but their true intent is to pass laws regulating the sale of firearms, and what type can be made. Using the criteria the anti-gun lobby uses for an "assault weapon" most any semi-auto pistol on the market today qualifies.
