It is rare to see a 'gun bill' with a truly new idea, and likewise rare to see pro-gun legislation.

I suspect this doesn't have any chance of passing, but I really like the concept! Have others seen this elsewhere?

https://apps.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?year=2019&billnumber=5172&initiative=false

"Any legislator who wishes to introduce a bill pertaining to a firearm must be able to produce proof, upon request, that he or she has completed the following training requirements..."

Not just because the state house, senate and governor's office are controlled by Democrats, but because these are the folks who cannot possibly be troubled to educate themselves on any issue prior foisting bad laws on the state's citizens.

I'd bet most of our state legislators could not pass the state's standardized educational assessment tests at the 10th grade level.

Another problem is that the anti-gun groups have seized on the initiative process to get gun laws passed and pretty much given up on legislation.

Does anyone have anything useful or meaningful to contribute to a discussion of this bill -- like possible strategies to actually get some RKBA good out of its introduction?

If not I'll be closing this thread soon.
