Picked up my first PPK/S. A stainless Interarms in 32 acp. It was a safe queen with box and 1 mag. I have a few questions

Were many of these made? I know interarms is more sought after than S&W ones. What is the value of this gun? How many mags did these originally come with? Are any aftermarket mags any good? Will PP mags work? Also do they still make crimson trace grips for these? I cant find them in stock anywhere

Somewhat rare as I recall reading somewhere that maybe 1,000 of them were made. I believe they were built by Ranger Manufacturing of Gadsden, Alabama under license for Interarms.

TRY E-bay

TennJed,

You can try e-bay. I paid less than half of the $79.00 you were quoted for a WALTHER PP magazine. In fact, I bought two for less than that.

The PPK/S is a legal adaptation of the PPK which was too small to be imported under the 1968 gun control act. By using the longer grip frame of the WALTHER PP, it was allowed to be imported as MORE SPORTING!

WALTHER still lists both the PPK and the PPK/S as some shooters prefer the longer grip and 1 extra round in the magazine of the PPK/S. Other than that, they are the same gun.

As far as INTERARMS guns, the ones that I have examined had very gritty triggers. The S&W one was much smoother, but my pre-war PPK was better still.

Midway has the MecGar mags that will fit your gun. PP&PPK/s use the same. You won't find any better. I use MecGar mags with all my SAs. High quality and they make a lot of factory mags for different gun makers.

They are currently showing out of stock - but they get them regularly. I just picked up an extra from them two weeks ago.
$22.99 & $25.99

Check out the Walther forum. Lots of info and great guys there. I have one in 380 and the fit and finish are top notch. Ranger arms were the ones producing them here as far as I remember and they were far superior to S&W and made to Walther's specs. Mine rocks, runs well and is very accurate. I paid under 400 for it a bout 4 or 5 years ago with 2 mags. Enjoy that classic weapon.

I realize laser grips are not a permanent thing. There are a few places for lasers but not on a SD gun. Learn to shot in subdued light without a laser and you will be faster. You spend your time looking for the laser instead of your opponent.

If that works for you great. I have several guns with crimson trace grips. They have an on/off switch. I rarely practice with them on. I am confident in my training and have trained myself not to look for the laser. I just switch it on when carrying as an extra
