Condition 95%-97% one magazine CAI re-import of Interarms $1199. To me it looks like Gen III S&W, Daewoo, Serbian Scorpion or Slovenian Rex. As I recall they were priced at about $1500 when last sold new. What makes them so special? Thanks.
I don't know much about the P88 but read up on it after purchasing a Bersa UC9 several years for cheap. It's very reliable and accurate. It's one of the few pistols I have that has never experienced a hangup. The Bersa is no Walther of course, however I understand the P88 inspired the Bersa Thunder 9 (and the compact UC version). Some go as far as calling it a copy.
A retired CSM (82nd Airborne, 3rd Infantry) I knew had 3 personally owned handguns, a Walther P38 (Uncle's War Trophy) he got permission to carry in Korea and Vietnam, a S&W M29 (held for evidence after shooting a home invader) and a P88 he bought to carry while his M29 was held. In his opinion it was a very well made pistol and a worthy successor to the P38.
That and the few times I examined it are about all I can tell you. It was very accurate according to the SM.
My favorite shooter out of several dozen to choose from is the P88C. Extremely well made, extremely accurate, trigger is unsurpassed for a factory military design, and it has gone bang with anything I feed it. Nuff said......... BTW, it gets cc'd a lot !!!!
I would love to own that classic. And yes shooting them is a piece of heaven. Out of my budget however. One gun I do own is the CP88 which is notorious for a fine shooting air Pistol. I own many but this is my favorite. Also a favorite in Europe for Iron Plate shooting. Great DA trigger. They run somewhere around $2-250.00. A very serious build quality. Congrats Sir, you own a might fine pistol.
My Walther CP88 Rifled barrel air Pistol Replica. (also have the extened target barrel)
I bought my P88C in 1995 NIB for $800 after lusting over it in the 94 Interarms catalog . I remember my excitement in seeing the ad in Shotgun News for a dealer that actually had them in stock. I replaced the Clinton-era 10rd magazines from a source in Germany for around $30 each. I bought a nice LNIB P88 in 2008 for $900 but found (like some others) that it didn't really compare favorably with the compact model from an ergonomic standpoint. Both have always been 100% reliable - I still have both pistols.
