And this is an option for hunting:

FULL POWER+ 30 M1 CARBINE
BUFFALO BORE FULL POWER+
U.S. 30 M1 CARBINE AMMUNITION
125 grain Hard Cast, Flat Nose, Gas Checked @ 2,100 fps.

I’ve chronographed them and they live up to the advertised velocity, actually a little higher.

In a carbine 18 " I'm sure , I recently sold one of my two three screw .30 Carb the nicer rarer one. The Black Hawk .30 Carb produces 1500 fps +- out of its 7.5 barrel. A 20 " T/c contender gets 150-150 fps more. The Ruger is louder because of the cylinder gap , quite a bit louder than the T/C Contender 10" .the .30 Carb is at the top of the heap for pistols . The 7.62 Tokarev is close tho , amazingly

With 15 grains of H110 underneath a 115 grain bullet I was getting (on average) 1680 FPS from my Blackhawk … as measured by my LabRadar chronograph.

Or buy it this week on Gunbroker, It's at $700 right now

Well, don’t expect it to stay at $700 too long. It’s a “3-screw Blackhawk”, meaning it’s a collectible. It also means it doesn’t have a transfer bar to protect against accidentally firing the gun by hitting the hammer.

Checked the usual sites and they’re all “temporarily out of stock”.

I will say this about the 30 Carbine Blackhawk. It’s probably may favorite gun at the range. She’s a sweet shooter!

The .30 Carb Ruger Blackhawk is , for all practical purposes, a ".32" and about the same bore . I have seen a 32-20 cylinder made for them FWIW . 5 thousands factory bore difference-= Jeesh !
If you remember, this began with a desire for a "small" .32.

I will grant you that the .30 carbine is a .32 on steroids, but the Blackhawk, especially with a mounted scope, dosn't quite qualify as "small". :)

I've been handloading for about 5 years and have gone down the rabbit hole, this allowed me to become a proficient pistol shooter so I wanted to make small game hunting more of a challenge using a handgun. That said I have been wanting to use a 32 caliber revolver maybe the newer 327 Mag for its versatility. originally I drooled over a Ruger Single Seven but I was broke back then and now in this climate even single actions weren't immune to the lunacy. Talking about today's climate I can get the ruger target offerings in 327 mag or being an old gun lover a S&W Model 30 I-frame or 32 or 30-1 etc. For hunting and general plinking anyone here old school and can recommend something in 32(any) that's accurate and if so any special LGS or sites other than Gunbroker that I can deal with? Tnx in advance Gent's
It really hasn't drifted much, if at all. The mention of I-Frame and J-Frame S&W's was if the OP went with an older gun, non-exclusive.

I have an an "old school" 32 revolver.

A 31-1 in 32 S&W Long.

It's very accurate for a snub. Probably partly because of the cartridge and partly because the recoil is so light.

But for small game hunting, best look for a 4" or at least a 3" version.

Mine is 1 7/8 inch shown with the Buffalo Bore ammo I used to carry.
