Was I Wronged?

No SKS is worth 900+ bucks
“”worth” is a relative term.

I bought an unfired Russian in perfect condition for $119 OTD. One of my acquaintances told me it wasn’t worth it.

Few years later, I had a guy literally beg me to sell it to him m for $375, which I did.

Many of the milsurps guys are lamenting that they didn’t buy them some years ago when they were relatively cheap, compared to today. Remember, most guys then thought they weren’t worth it.

Maybe you can buy them cheaper other places today. I haven’t looked. Don’t know or care. Isn’t my money. If it’s worth it to someone else and they’re spending their money, not mine, make yourself happy.

Same goes for any mil-surp in the past 30 years. What once was low, pennies on the dollar are now rocketing towards the moon and beyond.

just ask the guy if he has one like was advertized, and you'd like an exhange. let him know you'll give him negative feedback on the sight, and at a minimum you'll get to return it. is what it is, but LNIB means like new - not gouged up. sellers will often jump through hoops to not get bad feedback, but don't expect miracles.

as an aside, I've purchased a few surplus items, and not one has been what I would say was the condition advertized, but only one was so bad that I just sent it back immediately on first inspection. those marks are not so bad IMHO, and if the rest of it checks out, just get past the buyers remorse and it won't, bug you after a few weeks, you won't notice them, unless you really want perfect.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, and yeah maybe the OP overpaid, but some of these replies seem overly harsh.

I also am amazed at what a clean Russian SKS goes for nowadays but it is just what today's market price is. And maybe you'd never pay that in a million years.

Many milsurps are not "worth it" nowadays if you think in terms of the going price when first introduced to the general public. Inflation and the power of today's money compared to back then is certainly a factor to consider.
