I got a Weaver Classic 1-3x scope for Christmas to go on my AR. Now I need a mount. The local shops are all pretty thin on inventory right now.
Here is my setup: Flat top upper with a free float hand guard with a top rail.
I would prefer a one piece mount. Something light and slim, not heavy and bulky. I wouldn't mind a quick release mount but that is not a requirement.
Is there anything wrong with using traditional 2 piece rings to mount a scope on an AR? I tried a set of Weaver Grand Slam rings but they were medium height and the scope wouldn't fit.
I know some people shoot "nose to charging handle", but that isn't very comfortable to me.
There is one Burris PEPR mount in stock locally, but it was pretty heavy for my likes and a little pricey. I like the looks of the Nikon P-223 series of mounts but they just have a 30mm size and 20moa bases in stock right now.
So what are my best options for this setup? Traditional 2 piece rings or do I need a fancy AR purpose built mount?
Also, what are your thoughts on the scope? I really like it so far, but haven't mounted or shot it yet. In my long search for an ideal AR scope it fits the bill the pretty well. I'm also thinking of getting another one to put on my CZ 527 carbine chambered in 7.62x39.
