Once you have that brass, youre halfway to covering the cost of reloading ammo.

Reloading is pretty interesting and enjoyable in its own right, and gives a good feeling being able to make ammo. Hope you get to try it some time.

Love all these beautiful Webley's. Thanks for sharing pictures of the most beautiful revolvers ever made.... Right, Vern? Come on, Vern....ADMIT IT!!! You love English Revolvers!!

All right....I'm sorry. I'll stop. But I love my Mk VI . It has been butchered and now shoots 45 ACP, but I load it down to the proper levels. I have opened up the cylinder to remove that silly restriction and the gun shoots wonderfully. It will shoot groups at 25 yards that you can cover with a golf ball. And it loves 3FFF black powder. It is a lot of fun, for the kids, shooting black. Lots of roar, lots of smoke and little recoil.

tark; imho here's some truely beautiful Webleys in my collection. Not Mk IV or Mk VI but WG(not Green damnit, Government) 20160522_101636-1.jpg

I will second Merle1's comments on not firing factory or GI .45ACP or .45 Auto Rim in those Mk VI (and earlier) Webleys converted from .455.

The .45 ACP standard pressures are the equivalent of .455 proof loads and the cylinders of some of those guns have blown when firing the American ammunition. So, if you must fire those old guns, use light or black powder loads. I hate to see a good gun last 100 years then be destroyed through ignorance or by someone trying to make a .45 Magnum out of an old Webley.

Jim
P.S. The above is also true for the use of .455 Webley Auto pistol cartridges in .455 revolvers; the .455 Auto is in the same pressure class as the .45 ACP.

The Saami pressure for .45 AR is 155 MAP while it is 185MAP for .45acp for what its worth that would put it maybe 1000psi higher than British figures for .455 Eley.

Where did you get those numbers? I just checked the SAAMI site and they list a MAP of 210 for the 45 Auto and don't list MAP for the 45 Auto Rim. Source?
