Well, here she is. My first 1911, finally in my hot little hands :)

Just pokin' fun...

I actually like the lettering. Certainly the quality if not necessarily the size. It's nice to see it so proudly displayed without a ridge of displaced metal around each and every marking.

Odd name though. I get "CHAMPION" and I get "OPERATOR" but "CHAMPION OPERATOR" kinda sounds like, I dunno...

An "Indianapolis 500 Baja" tire.

Still - heck of a gun the OP has there. Good mags and decent ammo and we should only ever hear how happy he is rather than warranty issues or modification desires.... leading to warranty issues.

Todd.

I had a trusted 1911 smith polish the feed ramp and a couple other things. He was kind enough to do i for a thank you. It is really intp high end 1911 and was really impressed with the gun. The result was us a smooth as trigger with a 4.1-4.2 pull. I could not be happier..

Hard to go wrong with a Springer and, if something does, their customer service is second to none.

Good shooting with it.

I like it because the styling is up to date yet it is still unmistakably a
classic single stack 1911.

- rail is discrete
- dustcover nicely streamlined into the slide/barrel
- modern sights
- modern trigger
- classic trigger guard
- modern hammer
- classic wood grips
- stippled lower backstrap

To me, you chose well.

I am leaning toward the Lightweight Operator myself for my next 1911. Only thing I am a little leery on is the "lawyer lock" beneath the grip safety. I have had bad luck with locks malfunctioning before on older pistols.

I had a Loaded with a lock for 5 years or so. I never had an issue. Matter of fact, I forgot it had a lock until I was preparing to sell the gun and found the keys in the plastic case.

I had the same smith Jewel the barrel hood today...

Got my camera charged and could not resist taking a few more beauty shots...

Well, here is the first range report. I am far from an expert shooter, but this gun made me look OK...God do I love the trigger...

Nice shootin. My Springfield Loaded does the same thing for me. It's a tack driver and makes me look like a much better shooter than I actually am. I've shared a few magazines with fellow shooters at the range and they often respond with similar enthusiasm after their small groups and surprisingly mild recoil.

I used nothing but Springfield mags in my Loaded. I had two stainless that came with the gun and bought 6 more with a discount coupon that came with the gun. Never had any feeding problems with them.

* * * I only got to put 3 magazines through it this evening. Two magazines of Winchester 230g FMJ ran flawless. I also ran a magazine of Winchester 230g PDX1 and had the second from last round fail to chamber...it seemed like it got stuck on the feedramp. Hopefully it just needs more rounds through it.

Nice looking blaster, congrats.

Definitely put more rounds thru it first to determine whether it needs more (or better) throating and polishing, or whether it was simply a finicky mag that caused the failure to chamber.

Springfield's 1911s often need further work to get them running 100%, ... you know, unlike Colts.

Yeah, just kidding.

The stock S.A. G. I. 1911A1 model I have has run perfectly out of the box. But then it's been fed only typical ball ammo and FMJ reloads, not HPs. Very accurate too. Despite being something of a Colt fanboy, it's one Springer I wouldn't sell.
