So, I might as well complete the set-

I've had the 422 for years and its always been a favorite, very reliable and accurate. Found the 2206 a couple months back at the gunshow and it's living up to expectations as well.
Just scored the 622 and picked it up today-

As a quick recap, the 422 is blued with aluminum frame, the 622 uses stainless steel bits with aluminum frame, and the 2206 is all steel. The 2206 also has some amenities like an anti-glare front sight and trigger overtravel-stop.
This particular 622 is the "Sport" model, which pretty much just denotes replacement of the standard S&W micrometer rear sight with a simple (and rather cheesy) plastic block-

Compared to the 2206-

Though not exactly rare, this series doesn't fall off trees anymore and I was happy to fork over 3 bills for this one, cheap sight and all-

I mean, I had the manual anyway, right? 😁

I would have too. They all have just enough resemblance to the 41 to make a person assume they'll shoot.
I nearly coughed up that kinda money for a 22A-1 just because I needed a stock .22 and it was there. Jeebus, they're ugly though so I couldn't bring myself to it.

I've had both the 22A and 41. Hated 'em. I know most folks have a better experience, but both mine were incorrigible jam-o-matics. On top of that, the 41 would bite my knuckles like an angry Wolverine....
Sure was pretty, though. 😞

I have never payed much attention to Smith semis-autos, at least until the M&P arrived. A few years ago my LGS has a 22-a on consignment. It looks somewhat weird but I am well pleased with it's performance. I put a Bushnell red dot on it and found it to be quite accurate. Not one problem so far.

I heard the Bushmell are very accurate and consistent! U’ll all about good price hacks

as for smith semi… Love them ild recently, before I thought they were 80’s but now 80’s is COOL again and I follow the leaders

I was jonesing for one of these a couple years ago; stumbled on to a deal on a 41, and didn't pursue these.
The barrel-unde-the-recoil-spring has been a recurring S&W theme going back to the '30s. Always like the look of these pistols. Much prefer them to the current Victory model.
The Escort version always had a lousy rep, whether deserved or not.
Nightlord, now I understand why I had a hard time finding a nice one.... ;)

I have never had any interest in the victory. I will use a word Jack O'Connor used in one of his books to describe a certain double barrel shot gun, amorphous, to describe how I see them. I got a little bent at that as I owned one of the shotguns and loved it. Even if I didn't mind the victory's looks I wouldn't take a chance on one due to all the problems posted on RFC.

That is the only Bushnell red dot sight I have ever owned. It has been a good one.

I had one 20 years ago and sold it. It just wasn't much fun to shoot on an indoor range at the time.
Lots of work for so little of a pop.

If I found one at the right price, now, I could see picking it up. Shooting 22LR outside your house is far more enjoyable.

Went to go shoot the 622 today, and wouldn't-cha-know, they had a mint 422 Sport in the consignment case. Its got $400 on the tag, which is a bit steep since Ive already got 3 of these things. Might offer 'em $350, lol.

The 622 shot awesome, even with the clunky sight. 100 rounds of SV, no jams, one ragged hole in a zombie's forehead at 25. 😁

Mine is still unfired. Need to remedy that.View attachment 1198015View attachment 1198016
Wow!
I recommend CCI SV or another standard velocity round for these. They don't seem to shoot any better with the HV stuff and it batters the frame less. My old 422 is starting to show it's age and rattles quite a bit when shaken. Of course, Ive put thousands of rounds through it and it was hardly NIB when I got it.
Still runs fine, but shes ready for general retirement.

My new 622 seems very low-mileage, and of course the all-steel 2206 should be a bit more tolerant/ durable.

Since I have somewhat of a High Standard addiction, standard velocity is pretty much all I shoot in my autos.

I recall seeing one of these with a suppressor not too long ago on another forum.
IIRC the barrel is threaded making it illegal in certain places (states or countries). Which you really wouldn't think about just looking at it.

Being left handed, I had to be careful where I put my thumb. Too near the ejection port and it would cause the pistol to jam.

I use SV ammo in my 22-a. It is more accurate then HV and easier on the recoil spacer which seems to be the weak spot with these pistols. CCI price is the same for each and my farm& ranch store always has some. The difficult part for me is the top rail which makes it hard to grasp the slide. Having cut the nerve in my left thumb several years ago leaving it numb and weak I can't do it with my left hand. I have to switch hands to rack the slide right handed and then switch back to shoot. Kind of weird but not enough to get rid of it as it shoots quite accurately. I don't believe that would be a problem with the others since they have no top rail. If I ever run across one at a decent price I will buy it. In fact I might overpay a little as none of these seem to make their way into a gunshop where I live.
