In my quest to stick more rounds on the gun for practical shotgunning I mounted a little kydex double shell belt loop onto the right side of my reciever. I just drilled a hole in it and attached it with the fwd trigger group screw that holds the sidesaddle on. Looked cool as heck, two shells pointing fwd and sticking out 30 deg. for an easy grab. I'm lefty and load off the gun with right hand while mounted to the shoulder.
First problem, If I left them pointing straight fore/aft they auto-ejected themselves under recoil. Oops. I canted it about 45 deg. up and they no longer fell out, but a few ejected hulls hit the thing and bounced back in the chamber. Oops. Overall I got several successful loads out of it, so the concept for me is validated, I just need to do something lower profile stuck to the reciever by adhesive velcro probably. We'll see.
So right now, I have a 6+1 18" bbl. gun, 6 on the sidesaddle and the rest come from armband, belt, teeth whatever. I can't do buttcuffs and bandolier slings and such are clumsy and slow. Any other bright ideas? Especially, has anyone mounted two shell successfully on the rear of the forend so they are right there to grab? Without falling off?
And no, I will not just buy a Benelli or X2 until all those autochucker guys can beat me. Right now they have problems doing so.
