Greetings all,
Last week, I had written a post asking about shotgunning sports. Well, I went and tried it over the weekend. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. For those familiar with the area, I had gone to Thunder Mountain in Ringwood, NJ. The folks who ran the range were very nice and patient as I asked a boatload of questions regarding technique and of course the shotguns themselves. I used a Beretta semi auto and found it to be a nice fit. Afterwards, I had stopped by my shooting buddies place and checked out his Remington 870. I know the 870 is one of those do everything guns, but I like the Beretta much better. I was very surprised that there wasn't all that much recoil, although looking at my right shoulder you would think otherwise. My few times shooting shotgun in the past, I remember the recoil was severe. I was also surprised that the ammo cost was much less than I had anticipated. For some reason I thought ammo was going to be 3-4 times what it was. All in all a very enjoyable experience. One that I hope to do again. One that is also very probably going to give me the justification to get a new toy!!!!! Thanks to all who replied to my other post.
