"We're having a gunfight, could you come over?" - Korean gun owners LA Riots

Now there is an example of semi-auto arms used to good effect in civilian hands!
Yeah, I thought so to. They weren't going to be run out of the stores that they owned and depended on their livelihood for by armed criminals looking to profit at their expense. So they defended themselves.

Here's the original news clip. If you want to skip all the looting the gunfight between the gangbangers and the Korean merchants starts at 1:35.

I could only imagine what outcome would come of the honest store owners defending their property in today's PC world.

Typical anti-gunner: Why do you need a semi-assault weapon? That's why we have police.

Typical politician: I'll just go out my front door and fire two shots in the air of my shotgun.

Reasonable commonsense viewpoint: When seconds count, the police are just minutes away.

Was there any police repercussions to their shooting in city limits? Some of the shots taken looked like targets were far away and not for self defense.

This wouldn't go well in today's environment.

My CCW instructor gave an example of someone in my house attempting to beat down the door to our bedroom, at which point would I be justified in shooting him/her? We do not have a Castle Doctrine here but simply a stand your ground. His reply was not until the door fails to keep him/her out.

So that tells you how thin of legal ice those Korean's would be in California of all places if attempting the same thing in today's political climate.

If your area is hit by a big natural or man-made disaster, it may be days or even weeks before normal services (including 911 and police response) could be restored.

This is the reality that exists today and what we saw during LA riot has happened repeatedly during hurricanes and will happen again where police response may not be immediate.

Even my anti-gun coworkers have changed their stance on gun over the decades as one by one they or their family/friends/neighbors were robbed/burglarized. Many have bought guns and are CCW permit holders as they realized the reality of police response.

It's just an old news story and we don't do the news. Asking them over to fight someone? Conjecture and fantasy. We don't do those.
